Diagnosis of laryngitis
Therapists, otolaryngologists, pediatricians are engaged in the diagnosis and treatment of laryngitis in adults and children.
Depending on the situation, the plan of diagnostic measures includes:
collection of patient complaints, anamnesis of the disease (how long ago the disease occurred, what drugs were treated, its effectiveness, the presence of bad habits);
examination (retraction of the intercostal spaces, swelling of the wings of the nose, participation of additional respiratory muscles in the act of breathing, difficulty and lengthening of inspiration, wheezing on inspiration);
laboratory research (general blood count, immunofluorescent analysis, skin tests);
instrumental examination (fibrolaryngoscopy, indirect laryngoscopy, pulse oximetry);
consultations with an ENT doctor, a pulmonologist.
To divide stenosis into 4 stages, the Undritz classification is used. Its criteria are: general condition, consciousness, skin color, participation in breathing of the auxiliary respiratory muscles of the chest, respiration, pulse, pulse oximetry data. All patients with stage II-IV stenosis are subject to hospitalization.
Differential diagnosis of laryngitis is carried out with retropharyngeal abscess, foreign body, congenital stridor, larynx papillomatosis, acute epiglottitis, diphtheria.
