While traveling through Asia searching for harmony, I became very passionate about natural medicine. I've found the keys to life in a harmonious body & mind and I would like to share this knowledge with you. Amazingly, I have recently had the privilege of opening a Holistic Centre in Russafa, Valencia. I am putting together a team of professionals that will help you on your path, taking care of your body, mind and spirit.

Theory: Chakras are energy points in specific places in the body that directly affect our being on multiple levels of existence. As the West comes to embrace Eastern philosophies and practices, chakras have become a topic of debate for many people.
The chakras govern physical and intangible aspects of ourselves. Noticing them not spinning in alignment will have physical and spiritual symptoms. There are ways to nurture them directly, but by treating the symptoms, you can realign the source.
There are seven main chakras in the body and like most formations of the body, they can fix themselves to an extent. The more you practice with them and actively care for their maintenance, the better they will function. The chakras are normally visualised as spinning balls of energy located along the spine at specific junctions. Even if you don’t subscribe to notions of spirituality attached to chakras, they are still a great way to group together and connect physical, mental and emotional aspects of your being.
There are many ways to correct the alignment of chakras, according to many schools of thought and disciplines. You can also ‘free style’ it as your connection and awareness grow. Chakras are immersed in every aspect of our being, so there are many ways to affect them. Anything from music to ecstatic dance action and intent can harmonise and bring balance to your life.
I’ve listed the major chakras in ascending order with general information on each. Keep in mind that chakra energy flows from the bottom upward. So you may see issues with your throat chakra but you need to make sure all the chakras preceding it are in line first. Keep in mind that a basic visualisation meditation can go a long way in fixing the chakras.

Did you know that Chinese and Japanese medicine is based on nature? Even though we think that with our technology we are way above it, only the opposite is true. In the old days when people did more farming, winter was less hard work. The nights were longer and the days shorter. Winter was a time to turn inward. A reflection on what you had planted and harvested last year and what you were going to plant with spring when the season was about to start back. Now we do the opposite, we work hard in winter when the days are shorter and we have less energy and we go on holiday in summer when we are at our full potential.

The principles of yin and yang form the basis of Eastern medicine. This is about finding the right balance in everything. Everything in life has its cycles.

Yin wouldn't be yin without its opposite yang. We say yin is the feminine, the moon, soft, cool, shadow, dark, but it is only these things in comparison to their opposites: the bigger, brighter, warmer, sun, energy, movement, masculine. Of course the moon can also be bright. But her brightness is not that of the sun when he shines.

Finding balance does not begin and end on our yoga mat. What we choose to eat (and how it is prepared) has a tremendous impact on our general health along with our mood. Inherently, our bodies crave balance. The Balance Chart (see photo) is one clear way to realise what effects different categories of food have on us.
Since our body wants to be in balance, if we tend to consume from one end of the food spectrum, we will crave something from the opposite end. Yin foods are lighter, have sweet, sour or bitter tastes. They give a quality of relaxation and expansiveness to the eater. Yang foods are contractive. They are dense and heavy. Their tastes are salty, bland or meaty. Yang foods give focus and can cause tension. If you tend to eat at one end of the spectrum, (consuming lots of meat for example) you may notice that you crave things at the opposite end (desserts and alcohol for example). This is your body’s way of searching for balance. If you tend towards these extremes in your diet, you may notice mood swings and a general feeling of ill-health. Now you understand why they serve you salty chips and nuts with a beer, for example.
An alternative approach is to focus most of your diet on the foods in the centre. These foods include whole grains, beans, fish, vegetables and fruits. The more you can include these types of food into your daily diet, the more you can feel energised, clear and less stressed. Over time, you will see reduced cravings for those extreme foods. Use these tips to help bring you back to your centre. I would say 60% grains, 30% vegetables and 5% 10% fish or meat.

Did you know that Thai Yoga massage is part of the UNESCO World Heritage Site and is not actually from Thailand?

It is actually an ancient massage that is more than 2,500 years old. When Gautama Budha proclaimed meditation and Buddhism in India, many people came to listen to his teachings not only from the interior but also far from abroad.

People who practised agriculture stayed healthy by doing ancient stretching exercises. It was not yet called yoga. They soon realised that they benefited from a calm mental mind after the exercises. Lord Budha used these exercises just before his meditation sessions so that his disciples could go easier and into a deeper state of meditation. But some people who came from very far away sometimes had injuries and could not do the exercises. Jivaka Kumar Bhaccha and close friend of Lord Budha who was actually an Ayurveda, Acupuncture and Acupressure doctor who took these stretching exercises and integrated them into a massage. It was actually a massage for people who were unable to do the stretches but still wanted to be in deep meditation (now also called massage for lazy people ;-)). When the doctor died, this technique was lost in India. But the monks who came from northern Thailand to listen to the Budha took this technique back to Chiang Mai, world famous for its Thai massage schools. Now you can find his statue not only in India but also all over Thailand.

Indeed, it is a combination of acupressure points and stretching exercises. Giving the massage has many benefits for the receiver and the giver as well. It is also very beautiful to watch, it is almost like a dance between giver and receiver.

Have you ever tried it? Should you like to try it, I will give you a session with much love. For more information www.ro-ki.net And if you want to learn it, I will gladly share this technique with you. For more information you can reach me 655 25 04 02 Robert.
