Creative Hub Ethiopia, Addis Ababa (2026)

Today marked the official launch of the Creative Hub Ethiopia Filmmaking Academy in Addis Ababa, a major step toward strengthening Ethiopia’s film and audiovisual industry.

Bringing together key partners including UNIDO, AICS, ANICA Academy, and the Ministry of Labor and Skills, the program will support emerging filmmakers through hands-on training across the full filmmaking process.

A powerful start to what promises to be an exciting journey for the next generation of Ethiopian storytellers.

We had a great bootcamp at the Creative Hub Jimma with two days of intensive training for startups. 🚀

The sessions focused on key areas including Growth Strategy and Implementation, Marketing Strategy Development, E-commerce & Digital Marketing, and Business Formalization & Organizational Development.
It was inspiring to see passionate founders learning, sharing ideas, and strengthening their businesses for the next stage of growth. The future of innovation in Jimma looks promising!

Creative Hub Ethiopia Filmmaking Academy will be launched in March!
The project is carried out at Creative Hub Ethiopia and funded by the Italian Agency for
Development Cooperation (AICS). It is implemented by the United Nations Industrial
Development Organization (UNIDO) in collaboration with the Ethiopian Ministry of Labour
and Skills.
Within this framework, ANICA will implement an advanced training and production
programme aimed at strengthening the artistic and professional development of emerging
filmmakers. The programme promotes international cooperation and fosters dialogue
between technical expertise, cultural identity, and contemporary cinematic language
through a structured, practice-oriented methodology.
Location: Creative Hub Arada Post Office, Addis Ababa
What you’ll gain:
- Comprehensive, practice-based training across all phases of film production, from
concept development to post-production
- Mentorship and masterclasses with internationally recognised industry professionals
- Structured development of a selected project into a screenplay through collective writing
sessions
- Professional pre-production planning and on-set experience in Ethiopia
- An international production environment encouraging intercultural exchange and
collaboration
- Contribution to the creation of a short film to be presented in February 2027
