𝗦𝘁𝗿𝗲𝗻𝗴𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗻𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗥𝗛/𝗙𝗣/𝗔𝗬𝗛 𝗺𝗼𝗻𝗶𝘁𝗼𝗿𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘁𝗵𝗿𝗼𝘂𝗴𝗵 𝗰𝗼𝗹𝗹𝗮𝗯𝗼𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 🤝

HISP Ethiopia is engaging with the Ministry of Health Ethiopia(MoH) and Family Guidance Association of Ethiopia(FGAE) in standardization and digitization of RH/FP/AYH monitoring tools.
As part of this effort, a two-day stakeholder workshop held on 𝗠𝗮𝗿𝗰𝗵 𝟲–𝟳, 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟲 at 𝗕𝗶𝘀𝗵𝗼𝗳𝘁𝘂 𝗧𝗞 𝗥𝗲𝘀𝗼𝗿𝘁 focused on developing an 𝗜𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗴𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗲𝗱 𝗠𝗼𝗻𝗶𝘁𝗼𝗿𝗶𝗻𝗴 & 𝗘𝘃𝗮𝗹𝘂𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗰𝗵𝗲𝗰𝗸𝗹𝗶𝘀𝘁 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗥𝗛/𝗙𝗣/𝗔𝗬𝗛 𝗽𝗿𝗼𝗴𝗿𝗮𝗺 𝘂𝘀𝗶𝗻𝗴 DHIS2 .

The workshop built on a 𝗗𝗲𝘀𝗸 𝗿𝗲𝘃𝗶𝗲𝘄 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗴𝗮𝗽 𝗮𝗻𝗮𝗹𝘆𝘀𝗶𝘀 𝗰𝗼𝗻𝗱𝘂𝗰𝘁𝗲𝗱 𝗯𝘆 𝗛𝗜𝗦𝗣 𝗘𝘁𝗵𝗶𝗼𝗽𝗶𝗮.Participants reviewed and validated key findings and provided feedback to refine the harmonized checklist.

This week HISP Ethiopia team is participating in a joint field mission to the 𝗦𝗼𝘂𝘁𝗵 𝗘𝘁𝗵𝗶𝗼𝗽𝗶𝗮 𝗥𝗲𝗴𝗶𝗼𝗻 from 𝗙𝗲𝗯𝗿𝘂𝗮𝗿𝘆 𝟮𝟯–𝟮𝟴, 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟲.

This visit brings together delegates from UNICEF Ethiopia , Imagine 1day, TaRL Africa, HISP Ethiopia, and regional and woreda education offices to strengthen collaboration around ongoing education programmers.

𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗸𝗲𝘆 𝗼𝗯𝗷𝗲𝗰𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗲 𝗼𝗳 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗺𝗶𝘀𝘀𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗶𝘀 engaging in joint reviews of UNICEF-supported interventions and conducting structured school visits for data alignment and quality assurance.

Throughout the week, the team will demonstrate the DHIS2 solutions that can enhance the data management for TaRL approach and the broader education information system. The team will also meet with education officials, review programme progress, visit the schools to better understand the context and provide hands-on support to schools to ensure better learning outcomes for children across the region.

On February 17, 2026, HISP Ethiopia had the privilege of participating in the Addis Ababa City Administration Health Bureau’s Quarterly Health Information System (HIS) Regional Advisory Group (RAG) Meeting held in Adama, Ethiopia.

The session brought together directorates from the Regional Health Bureau (RHB) and key partners including HISP Ethiopia, JSI-DUP, ThinkPlace, HABTech, and AAU-CBMP. Each organization presented its performance over the past six months, highlighting ongoing engagements, key achievements, implementation challenges, and priorities for the upcoming period.

The discussion that followed was both engaging and constructive. Representatives from the RHB directorates raised insightful questions, provided valuable feedback, and emphasized areas requiring strengthened collaboration and alignment. Such forums are essential for promoting accountability, coordination, and continuous improvement of the Health Information System across Addis Ababa.

We appreciate the continued partnership and shared commitment to strengthening data-driven decision-making in the health sector.

Ethiopian Public Health Institute (EPHI) and HISP-Ethiopia has begun a national training for regional representatives on the DHIS2–MFR Connector application, customized to meet the interoperability and reporting needs of EPHI.

The five-day training, taking place from February 16–20 at Adama Executive Hotel, aims to equip regional health information officers, M&E teams, and system administrators with practical skills to operate and support the connector, including facility data synchronization, monitoring data flow, and basic troubleshooting.

This marks another step forward in strengthening integrated health data systems across Ethiopia.

Techniques for visualizing and interpreting data through Event Reports to support monitoring and evidence-based decision-making

This marks an important milestone in strengthening the ANC program’s data management processes, ensuring higher-quality information for program performance and planning.

HISP Ethiopia participated in a three-day workshop held in Adama from December 8 to 10 as part of the preparation for the Health Sector Development and Investment Plan II (HSDIP II) situational analysis.

Our team is contributing to the development of the HIS, digital health, policy, and research components. Working alongside the Ministry of Health, regional health bureaus, and partner organizations, we are supporting the review of past performance, identification of key challenges, and development of strategic recommendations for the next phase of the national health sector plan.

This week, HISP Ethiopia is hosting an internal integration workshop in Addis Ababa with colleagues from HISP Centre at University of Oslo , HISP Zimbabwe, West and Central Africa, Hisp Rwanda , Health Information Systems Program - South Africa, HISP Mozambique, and HISP Ethiopia.
From 8–12 December, Developers and Implementers are exchanging knowledge and experiences, exploring integration use cases, and strengthening how HISP groups work together on DHIS2 integration activities in their respective countries.

Last week, HISP Ethiopia joined an inspiring multi-sectoral workshop in Adama, hosted by the Ministry of Health, focused on climate change, lead poisoning, and environmental safeguards.
Experts from Ministry of Health Ethiopia, UNICEF Ethiopia, MoWE, EPA, World Vision, Pathfinder, Amref Health Africa, and universities came together to:

📊 Conduct a SWOT analysis for Ethiopia’s next Health Sector Development Plan (HSDIP II 2026–2030)
🌍 Explore climate-resilient healthcare facility design
MoH has taken this initiative to ensure effective implementation of the Health National Adaptation Plan (HNAP) from national to local levels. HISP Ethiopia is happy to contribute to building a healthier, more climate-aware future and to support the rollout of Ethiopia’s HNAP.
