I left medicine after graduating.

And I’m not alone. Out of my 6 closest friends who became doctors, 4 have also left medicine behind.

We didn’t leave because we lacked passion. We left because the profession—here, in our context—has become unworthy of the years of study, the sleepless nights, and the emotional toll it demands.

Imagine spending over 7 years training to save lives, only to end up struggling to sustain your own.

We can’t keep losing health proffesionals like this. We must make healthcare worth staying for.

Let’s prevent more health professionals from walking away. Let’s start by paying health professionals what they deserve.

cases reported in , linked to

The United Kingdom and Germany have reported cases of cholera linked to travel to Ethiopia, with some infections traced to the consumption of holy water from the Bermel Giorgis holy well in Amhara region.

On March 7, UK health officials confirmed four cases of cholera among individuals diagnosed in mid-February. Three of them had recently traveled to Ethiopia, with two visiting Amhara region, while the fourth case did not travel but consumed holy water brought back from Ethiopia. The individual who returned from Ethiopia also developed symptoms after drinking the water.

Germany reported three cholera cases on February 27, linked to two travelers who visited Ethiopia in January. They brought back a bottle of holy water, which they and a third individual—who had not traveled—consumed upon returning. All three developed symptoms and required hospital treatment, with cholera confirmed in February.
