የቤተሰብ አባል የአእምሮ ህመም ሲኖርበት ማድረግ የሚገቡ 2 ነገሮች
============================
የአእምሮ ህመም ላለበት ሰው የቤተሰብ ድጋፍ ከፍተኛ አዎንታዊ ሚና አለው። በተለይ ህመሙን ተቋቁሞ፤ በቶሎ አገግሞ ወደ መደበኛ ህይወት የመመለሱን ሂደት ያፈጥነዋል። በተቃራኒው የቤተሰብ አባልን የአእምሮ ህመም አለመቀበል በታማሚው ላይ ጫና፣ በህመሙ ላይ መባባስ እንዲሁም በአካባቢው ማህበረሰብ መገለልን ያስከትላል።

የቤተሰብ አባል የአእምሮ ህመም ሲኖርበት ማድረግ የሚገቡ ሁለት ነጥቦች።
1) በቂ መረጃ መሰብሰብ

ስለ ህመሙና ስለ ህክምናው በቂ መረጃ መሰብሰብ በጣም አስፈላጊ ነው። የምናውቀውንና የምንቀበለውን መለወጥ እንችላለን። በተቃራኒው የማናውቀውንና የማንቀበለውን ነገር መለወጥ አስቸጋሪ ነው። ስለ ህመሙና ስለ ህክምናው ከባለሞያዎች፣ ከህክምና ተቋማት ፣ ለተመሳሳይ ህመም ከሚታከሙ ሰዎች፣ ከመፃህፍት እንዲሁም ከኢንተርኔት መረጃ መሰብሰብ በአባባል ደረጃ የሚነገሩ ነገሮችን ከማመን በተሻለ ወደ መፍትሄ ይመራል።

2) መነጋገር

የቤተሰብ አባል የአእምሮ ህመም ሲኖርበት ምን እየተሰማው ወይም ምን እያሰበ እንደሆነ ከመገመት መጠየቅ። ስንገምት እንሳሳታለን። ህመም ያለበት ሰው የሚረዳው ሰው እንደሌለ ይገነዘብና ብቸኝነት ይሰማዋል። በተጨማሪም "መደረግ አለበት!" ብለን የምንገምተውን ነገር እንዲያደርጉ ከመገፋፋት ወይም ከመምከር እንዴት ልንረዳቸው እንደምንችል መጠየቅ በራስ መተማመንን ስለሚጨምር ሀላፊነት እንዲወስዱ ያግዛል።

ያለ አእምሮ ጤና፤ ጤና የለም።

According to the schedule, the 2nd day’s event of the 4th Ethiopian Brain Awareness Week was to visit Gefersa Mental Health rehablitation Center (GMHRC). Different parts of the society have participated on the visit. We have seen how patients at GMHRC are being treated with medication, psychotherpy, occupational therapy, music therapy , and others.

1st day of the 4th Ethiopian Brain Awareness Week

The first day was celebrated with a Panel discussion on “Mental Health, Religion, and the Law: Opportunities and Challenges.” The panelists were Prof. Mesfin, a professor of psychiatry at AAU, Pastor/Doctor Zekarias Amdeberhan, a doctor of theology at full gospel church, and Ato. Suleiman Shigute, A lawyer with vast experience on medicolegal issues.

Ethiopian Brain Awareness Week has trained 50 teachers from different schools at Global hotel. The training was aimed to enable teachers create awarness on mental health in their school community. At the end of the training teachers were requested to reflect what they have learnt and their presentation was amazing; it showed the effectiveness of the training. They have also promised to establish a mental health club in their school. The training was supported by St. Paul's Hospital Millennium Medical College and Addis Ababa Health Bureau.
