"We Heal, We Deserve"

We mend your wounds, we fight your fears,
Yet drown in debts, ignored for years.
Don’t call us selfish when we stand
Fair pay is not a bold demand.

Respect is more than just a cheer,
It’s justice loud, it’s value clear.
We heal this land with every breath
We won’t be silenced into death.

THE WHITE COAT SECRET

They wear the white with steady hands,
in halls where death and duty dance—
no rest, no pause, no promised pay,
yet called to serve both night and day.

Their eyes grow red, their backs grow bent,
for lives are saved where sleep is spent.
No golden coin, no laurel crown,
just weary souls and cities frown.

They stitch the wounds the system makes,
bear silent oaths that no one breaks.
But who will heal the healers torn,
when hearts are tired and spirits worn?

Not gods, but men in mortal skin,
forced to bleed so others win.
No medals shine, no justice sings—
just broken minds and clipped-off wings.

So if you see them pass you by,
with sunken gaze and distant eye,
know this: they fight, but not for fame—
for life itself is both sword and flame.

Despite enduring relentless suffering,we health proffessionals occasionally raise our voices—only to be ignored by those in power, who show neither the will nor the intent to address our concerns. The result is a cycle of neglect, where problems remain unsolved and the burden on us grows heavier.

White Coats, Empty Pockets:
The Silent Exploitation of Ethiopian Doctors

We wear the white coat. We hold the stethoscope. We carry the burden of life and death on our backs but we cannot afford to buy shoes.

In a country where doctors are treated like saints in public and slaves in practice, the hypocrisy is nauseating. We heal the nation, yet we are broken. We walk through hospital corridors soaked in sweat, blood, and bureaucracy while our bank accounts echo with emptiness.

We are called "heroes" during pandemics, disasters, and wars but once the dust settles, we are left with broken promises and insulting paychecks. No housing. No insurance. No dignity. Is this what it means to serve?

We ethiopian doctors are not asking for luxury we are demanding justice.

We are tired of begging for advances. Tired of skipping meals while saving lives. Tired of watching our colleagues leave for foreign lands just to earn enough to live like humans. How long must we serve a system that refuses to serve us?

We don’t want more applause. We want health insurance. We don’t want vague "appreciation." We want financial protection. We don’t want slogans. We want systemic reform.

A country that underpays and overworks its doctors is writing its own death certificate. Health systems collapse not just from lack of medicine, but from the slow, quiet exodus of those who once believed in the oath.

We are not martyrs. We are professionals. And we will not stay silent.

The revolution begins not in the streets but in every hospital where a doctor finally says, "Enough." Enough of being overqualified and undervalued. Enough of pretending that self-sacrifice is a solution. We are done surviving. We demand to live.
