⚠️ FIFA Rules on Competition Integrity and Titles
FIFA does not allow clubs or federations to "transfer" competition titles between clubs. Here's why:
🚫 1. Integrity of Competitions
According to FIFA Statutes and competition principles:
✅ Titles and trophies are earned through sporting merit—not through agreement, donation, or politics.
Article 18 of FIFA Statutes requires:
“Leagues and clubs must ensure that all matches and competitions are played in accordance with the principles of fair play, integrity, and sporting merit.”
🚫 2. National Associations Must Enforce Sporting Merit
FIFA requires each national federation (e.g., EFF in Ethiopia) to:
Maintain strict independence and impartiality
Ensure sporting results and honors are earned on the field
Prevent clubs from engaging in symbolic or political gestures that undermine competition
✅ 3. Historical Records & Statistics
FIFA, CAF, and national federations officially recognize only the club that won the league on the pitch.
So if Club A wins, but “transfers” the title to Club B, Club B will NOT be officially recognized in FIFA records.
Club A remains the official title holder, no matter what it announces.
🟥 Possible Violations:
Bringing the game into disrepute
Match or title manipulation
Undermining the authority of the federation
If the Ethiopian Football Federation (EFF) accepts or supports this "cup transfer," it could:
Face CAF or FIFA scrutiny
Trigger an integrity investigation
