This week, Compass Psychology owners, Annabel Battersby & Hatty Francis-Ehnholm were interviewed for the YLE podcast ”All Points North” and talked about mental-health care for immigrants in Finland. They talked about the need for more cultural competency and language diversity in mental health-care; transparency and clearer information when seeking help; as well as the Psychotherapy Training in English being organised by Psychological Practitioners Finland ry, which will hopefully be starting through Jyväskylä University in Autumn 2026.

✅In this month’s newsletter, Compass owner Annabel Battersby reminds us of the importance of taking VITAMIN D as the daylight hours start diminishing.
✅During the darkest months of the year in Finland we absorb very little UV radiation from the sun. This is needed for vitamin D synthesis in our bodies.
✅Furthermore, the darker your skin colour, the less UV radiation you will absorb because your skin contains more melanin, a pigment that blocks UV radiation.
✅Vitamin D deficiency has all sorts of health complications including low mood and depression‼️
