EFPP E-journal presents:
🖋️ New reflective essay by Nadia Kostrzewa: "Beginnings. Before Everything Else."
🌾We invite you to read a powerful and poetic reflection by Nadia Kostrzewa, psychologist and psychoanalytic psychotherapist (EFPP Adult Section), a member of the Polish Society of Psychoanalytic Psychotherapy.
👉In this deeply personal and intellectually rich piece, Kostrzewa explores the aesthetic and sensory dimensions of the first encounter between patient and analyst. Drawing from philosophy, literature, psychoanalytic theory, and personal clinical experience, she evokes the aesthetic moment—that pre-verbal, bodily, felt experience which precedes meaning and interpretation. Inspired by thinkers and writers such as Bion, Winnicott, Bollas, Buber, Adorno, and Tokarczuk, she poses a compelling question:
👉 Does psychoanalysis begin not with interpretation, but with an aesthetic shock?
🌾With striking imagery and evocative language, the author traces the subtle, often ineffable moments that mark the beginning of an analytic relationship - when sensation, memory, and unconscious perception intertwine. She reflects on the body’s responses, the lingering scent of a patient, the trembling at the threshold, and the mystery of mutual recognition that resists articulation.
📖 we recommend this text for those interested in deeper look into psychoanalysis, philosophy of mind, literature, and the art in the context of human encounter.
