SUNDAY IN Punavuori II — The second edition

Taking your time, taking unusual routes and reaching to our favourite shop Common, where its door is usually closed on Sundays. This is an invitation to be flâneurs and be open so we can find joy in observing something unnoticed before in the city that we know too well.

We, Common and Artisan Café & Roastery, welcome you to enjoy a communally setting in Punavuori and to savour exceptional competition grade coffees prepared by a master roaster and three-time National Brewers Cup (2018, 2019, 2020) champion Jani Mikkonen.

Following the tradition of the first SUNDAY IN in 2025, Jani will make a rare appearance once again, serving filter coffees with his exquisitely roasted single-origin-coffees at Common’s retail spaces – including Ura.

With his artistic touch and some surprising elements, Shoji Kato will arrange the setting.

With the coffee of the highest quality, we take another voyages of flavours – our senses and imaginations could be further extended right from our common place in Helsinki.

This is the third collaboration of Mikkonen and Kato. The first one was Descending — an outdoor nodate-inspired coffee ceremony — presented at the 2020 edition of ANTI-Contemporary Art Festival in Kuopio. Common and Kato have previously collaborated and presented an exhibition of ceramic cups made by Matsui Katsuhiko (Fukui, Japan), at which opening, Tapani Huovinen of Maja Coffee Roastery served his hand drip coffee with Matsui cups in 2017. Common’s Ura is dedicated to display a fine mixture of vintage Japanese related goods, carefully sourced and seasonally displayed by Kosuke Nakamura.

New works by Ryutaro Yamada have arrived.

His ceramics highlight the raw character of clay, fire, and time.
Using kohiki and hakeme techniques, the surfaces carry subtle layers, brush marks, and natural variation. Fired in wood-burning kilns, each piece holds quiet tension, shaped by ash and flame, existing between functional vessels and sculptural objects.

This crewneck made from 14oz loopwheel Terry (Tsuri Urake) — a rare Japanese fabric woven at a slow pace, producing only about 20 meters per day. The result is an exceptionally dense yet soft texture that ages beautifully, giving it a timeless vintage look.

Designed with a relaxed silhouette for effortless comfort and long-lasting wear.
Each piece embodies the craftsmanship of Wakayama, Japan.

Available in sizes M–XXL.

Save the date!
A special 1-day event before they head to Paris.

𝑵𝑬𝑨𝑻
is a Japanese brand specializing in trousers, launched in the Fall/Winter season of 2015.
With the idea that “you might wear a T-shirt on top and sneakers on your feet, but if your pants are well-made, the whole look becomes elegant,” the brand was named NEAT to embody that philosophy.
