DPBM student council welcomes you to "Breaking (down) the dogma", a Methods symposium!

-Are you starting your PhD and want to discover new methods for your research?
-Do you work with a cool method that could help others?
-Have you wondered if someone uses that method you've been meaning to learn?

The aim of the symposium is to introduce doctoral students from DPBM and ILS to novel methods to research DNA, RNA and proteins 🧬
The event, happening on the 17th May, consists of 10-14 selected pitches and will be followed by some time for networking over pizzas.

We invite doctoral students to pitch and share their methods. A pitching workshop will take place the week before the symposium for selected pitchers.
The best pitches on the day of the symposium will be awarded! 🏆

Travel grants!
The doctoral programmes in health sciences organise a joint call for applications for the doctoral programme's travel support and travel support from the University of Helsinki Funds. The call starts on January 30 at 8.00 and ends on February 13 at 23:59.

The University of Helsinki supports doctoral researchers' traveling to scientific events both in Finland and abroad. Most travel supports are awarded by the doctoral school or doctoral programmes and should be applied for following the specific instructions given by doctoral school or programme.

OILI is an enrolment and registration service for students. If you are a new student, you can enrol at your higher education institution using OILI after you have accepted the study place in Studyinfo.fi service. If you are a continuing student, you can enrol in OILI for the next academic year.

The DPBM student council is organizing the first event for Summer 2021!

What: Standup paddleboarding (SUP) in Töölönlahti & Get to meet with your peers

Target group: DPBM students

Where: Hakuna Matata, Karamzininranta 4, 00100 Helsinki http://www.hakunamatata-sup.fi/en/rent/

When: Reservation 16:20-19:30, Thursday, 10th of June

Registration: There is limited number of seats, so please register asap by the 7th of June: https://elomake.helsinki.fi/lomakkeet/104359/lomake.html

We will meet you in the proximity of the SUP rental preferably 10 min before the reservation begins. We will have instructors/personnel with us to guide and assist us, so no previous experience is required!

For instance, you will be able to do 1.5 h paddling (SUP) followed by socializing time at the beach. There will be plenty of space for every participant to relax, keeping the safe distances.

You may bring your own snacks or beverages. You can also store your belongings at the rental, if needed.
