Did you know that up until 1582, the New Year was officially celebrated around today, on April 1st? The Pope brought in the Gregorian Calendar then, shifting us away from our traditions and natural alignment with the Earth's rhythm of life, and the Spring Equinox ceremonies, which represented rebirth and a fresh start. They called the people who kept the old ways "April Fools".

What I'm working on the most at the moment. Amazing book as well... 3rd time I'm reading it and always going deeper and discovering more truth. It's pretty advanced though and really makes you look at yourself in ways that aren't exactly comfortable to say the least. Highly recommended if you've been on your spiritual journey for a while though and ready to do some serious digging and shadow work within yourself.

As part of a motivational project I have going on at work for the clients, I am trying to demonstrate a video version of a "vision board," which involves using images and quotes related to what motivates you to keep working hard to make those big changes in your life. The idea is to have the board up where you can always see it and to watch your own "vision movie" every day.

By doing this, you will always have your goals and dreams in the back of your mind, which will lead you to make subconscious decisions all the time that will move you closer to your targets (and you will be less likely to make choices that take you further from what you want to achieve). People who use these kinds of techniques are much more likely to stay on track and achieve more than those who do not :-)

Apart from having to say goodbye to our beloved cat, Juudas, it has been an excellent few weeks since I started my new role as a peer support worker at the Ridasjärven Päihdehoitokeskus (Rehabilitation Center) in the beautiful Finnish countryside!

The highlights:

1. Settled in nicely to my on-site accommodation and hosting quite a few groups.
2. Last bit of winter seems to have passed and spring is just around the corner.
3. Finished a few seriously amazing books.
4. Ran my first 10k, even in hazardous conditions, and exercising steadily.
5. Writing and journaling.
6. Started a sort of jam club and began recording some new material.
7. Quality time with friends and at home.
8. Working on some video projects.

Well, I've been waiting to do this for a while now, as it was just recently 1 year since I had my last drink of alcohol, and made the best decision of my life to seek help for my mental health and substance abuse problems.

Through spirituality, meditation, exercise, healthy living, self-help content, and support from the sober community, I feel like a brand new and improved version of myself that I only wished of being before! So, I would just like to show some of my progress here to inspire others to see what kinds of major changes that are possible for us all to make in our lives 😁💪

As you can see from my transformation pictures, the difference is pretty incredible, and it's hard to imagine how I didn't really notice how bad and unhealthy I looked... and now looking back and comparing the pictures, it just makes me feel so proud of myself to have come this far. I actually had planned to make a lot more progress physically, and had so many big ideas of things I wanted to accomplish by this point, however I now understand the meaning of realistic gains and sustainable growth 😅

It hasn't been only the health aspect, but I have been so much more creative and motivated, and just received my official certification to instruct meditation ahead of a small sort of trial course that I am giving for a group I am hosting. It starts next Monday 20.11, if you would like to join in person or remotely via Teams. Just check the info in the flyer and drop me a message :-)

What a success!!! My Summer BBQ Party at the rehabilitation center was so lit the fire department showed up 🔥🔥🔥🚨🚨🚨🚒🚒🚒

Jk it was a false alarm ⏰ But it was really great and lots of people told me how nice it was and thanked me which was so touching. Feels very good to brighten up a hard time for some wonderful people 🥰

First, I held a meditation group where I explained some simple daily meditation exercises I do every day, followed by a 10 minute free time meditation for everyone to practice the exercises.

Then, I gave a motivational talk based on my perspective that both sobriety/healthy living and addiction both actually stem from the same source of how we are always either moving towards something that feels good, or trying to get away from something that doesn't feel good .

I made the point that we can achieve the same things that substances provide through healthly means. Also, when you start to regulate your health and mind naturally through putting in the work and self care time on yourself, then you will start to remove the instant gratification aspect of addiction psychology and begin to like putting in the effort to better yourself, your fitness, and your life. This is a very important aspect of overcoming not only addiction, but facing life's challenges in general.

We continued the event by playing games and grilling some sausages while we listened to some classics on vinyl, mostly old soul, R&B funk, blues, rock, etc, but also some random fun stuff 😀
