Do you know how May Day is celebrated around the world? 🌍
🌼 Finland: May Day (Vappu) is a joyful combination of International Workers’ Day and a student spring carnival filled with balloons, streamers, mead (sima), and doughnuts.
🌼 Sweden: Valborgsmässoafton (Walpurgis Night), celebrated on April 30th, marks the seasonal change with bonfires and traditional choir singing.
🌼 France: May Day is a national holiday and a day for workers’ rights. One beloved tradition is to give loved ones a sprig of lily-of-the-valley to wish them happiness and good fortune.
🌼 Germany: the night between April 30th and May 1st is known as Walpurgisnacht, a mystical celebration where bonfires are lit to drive away evil spirits and witches who, according to folklore, gather to welcome the coming of spring.
🌼 Italy: La festa dei lavoratori (Labor Day) is observed with lively concerts, public gatherings, and open-air markets. It's also a common day for political demonstrations.
🌼 USA (Hawai'i): the 1st of May is known as Lei Day. “May Day is Lei Day in Hawai‘i Nei!” is a celebration of Hawaiian culture, featuring lei-making, hula performances, and festive events honoring the spirit of aloha.
🌼 NewIcon: We celebrate May Day dressed in yellow and black (because vs 4th final match), raising glasses of mead (sima) with the robots — our reliable, tireless (and quiet) coworkers. 🤖 😉
🎉 Wishing everyone a joyful and safe May Day – however and wherever you choose to celebrate it!
