No man is an island, right? 💛 We all need the support of a community. We need mirroring, care, and the occasional lift-up from others when things are hard.

And, doing things together is simply more fun. The same applies to yoga practice. Do you have a community to practice and share the journey with?

Finally! After months of darkness, we’re getting some sunshine here in the north! Yay! ☀️✨🔆

It’s lovely… and it’s intense. After all, the body has got used to the inward calling, stationary greyness-darkness. So, the increasing amount of light might feel a little overwhelming to some. After all, even those positive changes can feel like stress in the body!

🔆 How does your body-mind react to the changes of the seasons and all that light coming in?
🔆 Do you feel happiness, do you feel tiredness? Or do you even feel some springtime mania? 🤪🕺🏿💃😜

It’s good to have a habit of turning inwards and having a tool to calm down the nervous system even and especially when the lights and the colours and the life outside are calling again 💚🎊💚

Therefore, we will be sitting down for meditation together before our online Mysore class on Thursday, starting 6.20 AM (Helsinki time). Be online a little earlier.

Takkuaako kotiharjoituksesi tai etkö tahdo päästä joogamatolle asti itseksesi?

Meidän online-ryhmä on kokoontunut harjoittelemaan yhdessä jo parin vuoden ajan. Yhdessä harjoitus luistaa paremmin!

Maaliskuussa tunnit ovat maanantai-iltaisin klo 18 - 19.30 ja torstaisin klo 6.30 - 8.00. Tervetuloa mukaan kerran tai kaksi viikossa 💚

Vaikea asana: mikä siinä on kun se ei vaan onnistu? 🔒🤔

Kaikilla meillä on omat haastavat kohtamme ja juuri se on yksi astangajoogaharjoituksen hienouksista: saada ratkoa arvoituksia, tutustua omiin heikkouksiin, vahvuuksiin ja mahdollisesti kauan sitten omaksuttuihin uskomuksiin, jotka ovat onnistumisen tiellä. 🔑🧩

Sunnuntaina 14.1. klo 15-17 pidän Asanaklinikka-workshopin :n salilla.
Laitamme syyniin mm. kuvassa näkyvän Bjujapidasanan, vinyasahypyt ja -nostot, sekä taaksetaivutuksia. Tuo mukaan oma haastava asentosi juuri sellaisena kuin se on! 🔎🧩🧪✨

Ilmoittaudu mukaan viineistään ke 10.1: larunastangajooga@gmail.com. Kurssin hinta: Hinta: 38 eur (sis. alv).

P.S. Haasteet eivät liity ainoastaan akrobaattisiin asanoihin. Niitä riittää ihan perusasioissa, kuten hengityksessä ja aurinkotervehdyksissä myös.

After the much needed winter break, it’s time to re-activate: to start moving forward consciously and choose one’s focus wisely.

What are the important things that deserve your attention during the coming months? Did you already make time for activities that enhance your well-being and bring you back to your Self?

It’s important. The days and months will pass quickly anyway. There are so many things that will demand your attention, so make sure that you have an anchor to bring the senses back to yourself. Do things that bring you back to your natural, inner calm and contentment.

Yoga has been my anchor for 20 years. It simply works, but for it to work you have to keep doing it. So make the time!

If you’re interested in starting yoga or keeping up your existing practice, here are the options to practice with me in January:

Today is the Earth Overshoot Day: this marks the day we have used the supply of the natural resources of our planet could offer for this whole year. Yes, still many months to go before 2023 ends.

Actually, here in Finland EOD was already in March. If everyone in the world would live and and consume like we do, the resources of 3,5 planet earths would be needed. Yet, we take our lifestyle for granted.

It often feels like the little choices won’t matter. What I do doesn’t matter so much. But we all leave a mark with our actions and lifestyle choices, every day.

The principles of yoga offer a delicious frame for reflecting our individual choices and actions in order to take care of our environment and our precious home, planet earth.

The yamas and niyamas, such as non-harming, non-stealing, contentment with what is, not taking more than is needed.

How can you put these principles into practice and make choices that would make this world a healthier place? Or at least, minimise the damage?

What kind of choices are you inspired to make today in order to take better care of planet earth?

Do we need yoga travels?

Lately, I’ve been taking time to reflect on my work, and what comes with practicing and teaching yoga. The lifestyle. The impact we have in the world doing what we do.

For many of us, the work (and/or the lifestyle) involves travels, and encouraging others to travel as well. Yoga travels are the best, right?!

Travelling encourages growth and expands the horizons. Sometimes it’s necessary to travel far. Or is it?

These days, we cannot ignore anymore the impact our luxurious lifestyle has on our planet and how flying, for example, contributes to climate change. Is it really a good idea to take those flights? Shouldn’t we at least ask this question? (Think about the heat wave in southern Europe right now).

Of course, flying is just one of the factors that contributes to climate change, and I don’t claim to be an expert on this subject. Far from it. But planning my possible (yoga) travel schedules, I am thinking how to do things, and work, in a responsible way. Should be continue to fly to those amazing destinations to have those lovely yoga vacations and retreats? Or should we just…

Give up the luxury of holidays in the stunning faraway places, and choose destinations to which we can travel by train, encourage a more modest lifestyle and make more environmental-friendly and non-harming choices instead of indulging in luxury in the name of personal well-being and refreshment?
