Summer is coming! Which means, it’ll be the time to take the boat to Kadermo island and retreat. 🌿🌿🌿

The dates for our summer retreat 2026 are June 21st to 26th, so we’re starting right after the Midsummer festival.

The nature will be blooming and as always, there will be a special energy at the island. ✨

Anu Ganesh from Mysore will be cooking yammy plant-based food, Lorena from Spain will be making delicious coffees and smoothies and other essential treats and I will be teaching the daily Mysore style classes and afternoon sessions.

(One reason I love Kadermo is that there are lovely people from different parts of the world ❤️).

In the mornings there will be silent sitting and Mysore style classes with one weekly led class.

In the afternoons we’ll have talks about yoga sutras in order to understand, how yoga philosophy actually is connected with the experiences and lessons we meet in our daily life and practice.

And there will be some chanting and meditation to connect with the silence and space inside oneself.

I’m really looking forward to this week in the island. Are you coming?

What a lovely weekend we had in Seinäjoki! Practicing in the cozy old school building with such a peaceful and warm atmosphere.

Lots of shared silence, thoughts, laughter, support and in general, good energy. What a lovely yoga community.

Thank you for everyone attending! We’re already planning next workshop in Seinäjoki, stay tuned.

Do you find yourself stumbling in vinyasas?

Does hearing the word bhujapidasana during the led class make you want to go to the toilet?

Wonder where to put those legs and how to get them moving in that small amount of time that’s there in the count? Ugh!

In our next Saturday online event, we’ll be going through the vinyasas of Bhujapidasana, Kurmasana and Suptakurmasana step by step.

And before that, we’ll do the half primary series. Yes, half “only”.

Not perfect, but ok.

Many of us have a critical inner voice that’s constantly pointing at where we didn’t succeed, or didn’t perform as we thought would be ideal.

Focusing on the faults and blaming oneself for being imperfect rarely leads to positive outcomes. More so, it’s harming.

And who knows what’s ideal, anyway.

On Saturday’s class, we talked about non-harming, and specifically how to not harm oneself.

We left the meeting with a challenge to find five things to be happy and content about oneself each day.

Re-programming the mind is a practice.
Being aware of one’s thought patterns is a constant practice. To practice ahimsa towards oneself and the others, awareness needs to be there.

What are the five things you could genuinely appreciate about yourself, the life and the actions you have been able to take today?

It’s a simple practice but the simple ones are often the best ones. ✨

Most of us get into yoga by practicing postures. However, ahimsa (nonviolence) is the first principle of the purification process called Ashtanga yoga.

Not harming any beings is the root from which all the other Yamas grow, and a principle to which any decisions, actions and thoughts can be mirrored to.

How do we relate to the world around us?
How do we relate to ourselves?
To other beings, animals and the planet?

What does ahimsa mean in practical life and how are we still harming ourselves and others without being conscious about it?

How could we see our actions even clearer and act more consciously? And therefore, remove the ignorance?

On Saturday January 10th, I will be offering and online event with the theme Ahimsa - non-violence.

Here’s the program:

If only life was as clear and structured like the series of postures that we do on the mat!

Oh well. We don’t really want life to be too predictable, do we.

The well structured practice offers a point of reference for recognising the ever-changing nature of the inner currents.

The practice brings stability and inner strength, and for many of us, creates a feeling of being at home inside our bodies, no matter what’s happening in life and in the world around.

But what happens when we step out of the mat and leave the safety of deep breathing?

How to create stillness of mind in the chaos of everyday life and how to love a yogic life without leaving the family and the office space?

Viikonloppu sisältää mysoreharjoituksia (aloittelijoille oma ohjattu tunti), teematunteja (la asanaklinikka, su keskustelu aiheena Sthira Sukham asanam- vakaa ja miellyttävä jooga-asento), chantingia, jooganidran ja meditaatiota (silent sitting) sekä lauantaina Anneli Kuparin ohjaaman äänimaljarentoutuksen.

Kurssi hinta: 170€/159€ (opiskelijat, työttömät ja eläkeläiset). Osallistua voi myös osalle tunneista (tarkista tällöin hinnat www.sattvajoogaseinajoki -sivulta).

There’s something deeply calming about listening to the count in a led class.

Returning to the rhythm of deep breathing.
Simply following the count.
And doing the practice at the same time with others.

Less decisions to make, less thoughts to contemplate during the practice. It’s grounding.
