🏋️ ROTATOR CUFF & OVERHEAD MOBILITY 🏋️♀️
---
💪The rotator cuff is the name commonly used to identify a group of four muscles in the shoulder girdle. These four muscles (Supraspinatus, Infraspinatus, Teres minor, and Subscapularis) are particularly important during overhead movements.
🤸♂️ Stability provided by the rotator cuff is crucial for ensuring that the head of the humerus remains within its socket during movement. Therefore, balanced strength and mobility in the rotator cuff is vital to the overall health and function of the shoulder.
🤾 Although the shoulder is capable of various movements, some studies believe that external rotation range of motion may identify athletes at risk of injury (particularly for professional baseball pitchers and swimmers).
👩💻 My latest article with WodConnect (coming soon) will discuss this further, and show a quick test for checking your internal and external rotation.
