The bleed you experience on hormonal birth control isn’t a real period! ❌ Here’s why:

1️⃣ Not a True Period: The “period” you get on hormonal contraceptives is actually a withdrawal bleed from stopping synthetic hormones, not a natural menstrual cycle. The pill suppresses your natural hormone production, mimicking a menopausal state rather than a fertile one.

2️⃣ Shutting Down a Normal Body Function: The first birth control pill, Enovid, was the first drug ever designed to shut down a normal bodily function (the female hormonal cycle) in healthy people. Imagine if we told men to take a drug to suppress their testosterone until they’re ready to have a baby—that’s what hormonal contraceptives do to women! To make the pill more acceptable, its creators included a fake monthly bleed to mimic a natural cycle, misleading generations of women!

Hey Sisters! Do those monthly cramps feel like they're taking over your life? You're not alone! Severe menstrual cramps can be a real pain, but there's hope.

✨ Pro Tips for Relief:

1. Skip the Caffeine & Alcohol, at least in the week leading up to your period and during your bleed. They can make things worse.
2. Eat Right: Add anti-inflammatory foods like turmeric and ginger to your meals.
3. Heat Therapy: A warm bath, a heating pad or vaginal steaming can work wonders for easing pain.

✨ Listen to Your Body: Understanding your symptoms can lead to better solutions. Menstrual cycle tracking with a certified fertility awareness instructor can help you identify the root cause of the pain and support you in feeling your best again.

❗️ Important: severe menstrual pain is NOT OKAY, even if you were told before that it's a part of being a woman.
