Our team in Fiji recently welcomed the first gynaecologic oncology visiting team of 2026 at Lautoka Hospital, marking a significant and impactful week for cancer care development in Fiji.

The contribution of visiting team of Dr Andrea Garrett and Dr Jim Nicklin from Brisbane, extended beyond clinical care - focusing on capacity building, hands-on training and mentorship within the hospital’s gynaecologic oncology fellowship programme.

Dr Nanise Sikiti, Consultant Obstetrician and Gynaecologist at Lautoka Hospital, said that each visiting team represents meaningful progress, strengthening the local team’s ability to safely and effectively manage gynaecological cancers in Fiji.
