For months, worry and uncertainty weighed heavily on one family as they searched for answers to a lingering illness that had slowly taken a toll on a husband and father. What began as frequent hospital visits turned into a long and emotional journey across towns, filled with fear, financial strain, and unanswered questions.
โWe used to go to the hospital in Lautoka for a long time,โ his wife recalled. โWe didnโt really know what was wrong with him. He kept getting weaker, and we felt helpless.โ
Eventually, doctors recommended an angiogram to better understand his condition. The test, done on February 4, revealed shocking news - his heart condition was critical. The family was devastated. โWe were very worried,โ she said. โWe didnโt know what to do next.โ
Hope arrived through family connections. Her sister-in-law began making inquiries and learned about PSH Hospitals in Nadi. A relative shared their own positive experience, saying their fatherโs operation there had been successful. Encouraged by this recommendation, the family decided to seek help. Money was tight, but the strength of their community carried them forward.
โWe didnโt have much income,โ she explained. โBut our family and village helped us. We are very thankful to everyone who supported us.โ
At PSH Hospitals, they met cardiothoracic specialist Dr. Sanjeev and the medical team. After reviewing his reports, the doctors confirmed the seriousness of his condition and advised immediate admission and surgery. Though afraid, the family felt reassured by the professionalism and compassion of the staff. โThey told us honestly that he was in critical condition, but they also gave us confidence,โ she said. โWe trusted them.โ The surgery was performed successfully.
โMy husbandโs surgery went very well,โ she shared with relief. โHe is not suffering like before. He recovered very quickly. The doctors are taking very good care of him every day.โ What once felt like an overwhelming crisis slowly transformed into gratitude. The pain, breathlessness, and discomfort that had troubled him for months began to fade. For the family, the recovery felt nothing short of miraculous.
โI am very thankful to the doctors,โ she repeated. โThey did a very good job. Everything is going well here.โ Beyond clinical excellence, she highlighted the kindness of the team - the nurses, doctors, and support staff who treated her husband like family. Today, she encourages others facing similar struggles not to lose hope.
โI would like to invite everyone to visit PSH Hospitals,โ she said. โYou can see how well they care for patients. We no longer need to go overseas for heart surgeries. We can get good treatment right here.โ
According to Parvish Kumar, Founder and CEO of PSH Hospitals, stories like this are the reason the hospital was established.
โOur vision has always been to make advanced healthcare accessible to families across Fiji and the Pacific,โ he said. โNo one should have to travel overseas or face financial hardship to receive life-saving cardiac care. At PSH Hospitals, we are committed to delivering world-class treatment with compassion, dignity, and trust. Seeing patients recover and return home healthy is the greatest reward for our entire team.โ
For this grateful family, PSH Hospitals was more than a medical facility - it was a place where hope was restored, lives were saved, and a new chapter began.
