Today, our Operations Team carried out a mixed waste cleanup along Laucala Beach as part of our ongoing commitment to keeping our environment clean and safe. This effort is essential in protecting one of our most valued coastal areas, which is regularly used by families, fishermen, and visitors.

Proper waste collection plays a vital role in promoting community health. Removing mixed waste helps reduce the spread of disease, prevents pollution of the shoreline and marine life, and creates a cleaner, safer space for everyone to enjoy. A clean beach also supports tourism and encourages our community to take pride in their surroundings.

Illegal dumping continues to pose serious risks to our environment and public health. We urge residents to report any illegal dumping activities to the Council so that appropriate action can be taken. Your reports help us respond quickly and prevent further damage.

Keeping our community clean is a shared responsibility. By working together, through responsible waste disposal, reporting illegal dumping, and supporting cleanup initiatives, we can protect our environment and ensure a healthier future for all.

Let us all do our part. Together, we can make a difference.

Our hardworking teams are continuing with grass‑cutting and mixed‑waste collection across all wards, and this operation will continue until every area is fully covered. We thank the community for your patience and support as we work to keep Nasinu clean and safe.

However, we strongly urge all residents to work with us in the fight against illegal dumping. This issue affects everyone, it harms our environment, creates health risks, and slows down the progress of our clean‑up efforts.

Please dispose of waste responsibly and report any illegal dumping you witness. Your cooperation is vital in helping us maintain a cleaner, healthier, and more beautiful Nasinu for our families and future generations.

Let’s work together a cleaner Nasinu starts with all of us.

Today, the Officer in Charge at Nasinu Police Station, A/ASP Mr. Tevita Savou, together with Cluster Chief (Nasinu) Sgt. Isireli Batibasaga, paid a courtesy visit to our Chairman and Acting CEO, Mr. Felix Magnus. We were honored to host them and to reaffirm our shared commitment to the people of Nasinu.

This engagement strengthens the partnership between the Council and the Fiji Police Force as we work side by side to keep our communities safe, clean, and thriving. By collaborating closely, sharing information, coordinating responses, and supporting outreach, we can prevent crime more effectively, respond faster during emergencies, and make our neighborhoods safer for families, businesses, and visitors.

They also extend their sincere appreciation to Mr. Magnus for the assistance rendered to the Police in Nasinu during the recent festive season. The continued support has helped their officers serve the public more efficiently at a busy time of year.

Moving forward, this collaboration will focus on practical initiatives such as joint community awareness programs, support for neighborhood watch efforts, road safety and school-zone awareness, and timely coordination during adverse weather and other incidents. Together, we remain committed to proactive, community-centered service, because a safer Nasinu is everyone’s responsibility.

Vinaka vakalevu to our Police partners and to the people of Nasinu for your ongoing support.

Let’s continue to look out for one another and build a stronger, safer community.

Our team has been out today collecting mixed waste around Tovata and Nepani. A big vinaka vakalevu to the residents for your cooperation while we carried out this important task.

Proper waste collection is vital for keeping our communities clean, safe, and healthy. Removing rubbish from public spaces helps prevent blocked drains, reduces pests, and improves the overall look and feel of our neighbourhoods. It also protects our environment by stopping waste from entering waterways.

We kindly ask everyone to work with us by refraining from dumping rubbish in areas we have just cleared until the next scheduled collection date. This allows our team to focus on other wards that still need attention, ensuring fair and efficient service across Nasinu.

Please note: Our team will be issuing fines to anyone caught breaching this notice. Let’s all do our part to keep Tovata, Nepani, and the wider community clean and welcoming.

If you have any questions or need to report illegal dumping, contact us through our official channels. Together, we can make a big difference. Vinaka!

Our grasscutting team was out along Tiri Road, Nadawa, clearing roadside grass and tidying the verges. Vinaka vakalevu to the residents and road users for your patience while the work was underway.

Regular roadside grasscutting is essential for safety. Clear verges improve driver visibility at bends and intersections, keep pedestrian paths unobstructed, and ensure traffic signs and house numbers can be seen. It also reduces the risk of accidents caused by overgrown vegetation encroaching onto the roadway.

It’s just as important for drainage. When grass and weeds overgrow, they trap litter and silt that block side drains and culverts. Keeping verges trimmed helps water move freely during heavy rain, reducing pooling and localized flooding along our streets.

Grasscutting supports public health and amenity too. Well‑maintained verges discourage pests and snakes, make it easier for crews to collect green waste, and uplift the look and feel of our neighbourhoods, something we can all take pride in.

Finally, this work is part of our ongoing commitment to environmental stewardship and service excellence. By managing roadside greenspaces responsibly and keeping infrastructure in good order, we create a cleaner, safer, and more resilient community for everyone across Nasinu.

If you notice areas that need attention, please reach out through our official channels. Your reports help us prioritize work and keep our towns looking their best. Vinaka!

Our Enforcement Team began house-to-house visitations last week and is continuing again today. These visits are part of our routine checks to ensure compliance with council regulations and to maintain a clean and healthy environment for all residents. During these visits, the team is also distributing the updated white and green waste collection schedules so everyone knows the correct days for disposal.

Routine checks help us identify issues early, such as improper waste disposal, blocked drains, or health hazards, and address them before they become bigger problems. By sharing collection schedules, we make sure residents can plan ahead and avoid leaving waste exposed, which attracts pests and creates unpleasant odours. These efforts support better waste management, reduce environmental impact, and keep our neighbourhoods safe and clean.

We appreciate your cooperation when our team visits your home. If you have any questions about waste collection or need extra copies of the schedule, please reach out to us here on Facebook or contact our office directly.

Together, let’s keep Nasinu clean and healthy for everyone.

Yesterday our cleanup team, led by our Chairman Mr. Felix Magnus, continued kitchen waste collection in Cunningham. This run was organised as a special request from the community after kitchen waste had been left outdoors for some time, causing strong odours and discomfort for nearby households. Vinaka vakalevu to residents for your patience and cooperation, and for alerting us early so we could respond quickly.

Kitchen waste collection is essential for protecting public health and maintaining a clean, safe environment. Timely removal reduces flies, rats, and stray animals, and helps prevent foul smells around homes. It also keeps our neighbourhoods tidy by stopping waste from scattering during rain and wind, and it protects our drains and waterways by preventing leachate and food scraps from entering creeks. By separating organic material, households can compost more and send less waste to landfill, supporting better habits and a greener Nasinu.

Our team is out again this morning collecting kitchen waste across the wards. Green waste collections will also continue from where crews left off last week, with teams returning to complete the remaining streets and areas. Residents are kindly reminded to bag and tie kitchen waste securely, place it in a covered bin, put bins out only on the scheduled collection day, and bring them back in after pickup. Please avoid leaving exposed bags, which attract animals and create odours, and consider simple home composting of fruit and vegetable scraps to reduce smell and bin volume.

If you notice any missed pickups or hotspots, send us a direct message here on Facebook so we can prioritise them. Thank you for working with us to keep Nasinu clean and healthy.

The Council has issued Removal Notices for derelict vehicles located along Vatoa and FNTC Road in Narere. These abandoned vehicles are not only an eyesore but also pose serious health and safety risks, including mosquito breeding, obstruction of traffic, and environmental hazards.

We are giving a stern warning to garage owners and vehicle owners:
Leaving vehicles unattended on public roads or road reserves is illegal. Failure to comply with removal notices will result in enforcement action, including fines, towing at the owner’s expense, and possible prosecution under Council by-laws.

This task is important because derelict vehicles:

- Block access for emergency services and pedestrians.

- Create dumping grounds for rubbish and hazardous waste.

- Lower the visual appeal and property value of our community.

We urge all owners to take responsibility and remove these vehicles immediately. Let’s work together to keep Narere clean, safe, and accessible for everyone.

For more information or to report abandoned vehicles, contact the Council office or message us directly.

It’s heartbreaking to see that after all the effort and hard work our teams put into cleaning Nadawa, some residents are still piling up rubbish at night. This isn’t just sad, it’s costly. Every illegal heap means extra trucks, extra hours, and extra ratepayers’ money.

This morning, our Enforcement Team visited the affected locations, tracked the offenders, and issued fines in line with Council by-laws. Thank you to the residents who reported these incidents, your vigilance matters.

Illegal dumping is a serious offence. Consequences include on-the-spot fines and potential court action for repeat or serious offences. Clean-up costs may be recovered from offenders.

Let’s work together to keep our area clean. Use the official collection schedules and designated bins. Do not place household or commercial waste on verges, drains, or vacant lots. Report illegal dumping with photos, time, and location via our inbox or the Council channels.

Let’s show pride in our streets, protect our environment, and respect our neighbours. Please, dispose responsibly and keep our community clean.

Our hardworking Nasinu Town Council crews are out in the wards today, with the grass cutting team working in Kalokalo, Makoi and the mixed waste collection team operating in Nadawa. Vinaka vakalevu to everyone on the ground for your dedication your effort keeps our neighborhoods tidy, safe, and welcoming for all.

This work is vital for our community’s health. Regular grass cutting reduces mosquito breeding and helps prevent dengue outbreaks. Prompt mixed waste collection keeps rodents and other pests away, lowering the risk of leptospirosis and other illnesses. Clean verges and proper disposal also prevent blocked drains and flooding, protecting our homes, roads, and public spaces. A cleaner environment means safer play areas for our children and a healthier community overall.

We kindly ask our residents to work with the Council to keep our wards clean. Please refrain from illegal dumping, it harms our health, damages our environment, and creates unnecessary costs for everyone. Use designated collection points, bag your waste securely, and avoid placing rubbish in waterways or vacant lots. If you see illegal dumping, report it to the Council so we can act quickly.

Together, we can keep Nasinu clean, safe, and healthy. Let’s do our part today and every day.
