We’re truly grateful to have been part of the first-ever TF Wives and Mothers Tournament last week, a powerful initiative by the Territorial forces Brigade to celebrate and support the incredible women who stand behind our servicemen-their wives and mothers.
But this wasn’t just a tournament. What made it even more special was having 5 CSOs Diabetes Fiji Fiji Cancer Society Heaven, MSP Sai Prema Foundation Fiji on the ground providing vital health services. It was a strong show of care and commitment, a moment where health was prioritised, early detection encouraged, and a genuine shift towards health-seeking behaviour could be felt.
We’re proud to share a big vinaka vakalevu to the Ministry of Health & Medical Services - Fiji led by Dr. Jack Kora’ai and the National RHD Coordinator Fiji RHD Verenaisi for coming out and providing heart screenings together with Heart Heroes fiji. We were able to screen 148 , and out of that we diagnose 5 new cases, we a offered counselling, and administer first doses of treatment to the our newly diagnosed cases.
Our goal was simple— to educate, empower, and break the fear associated with the unknown. Many fear what they don’t understand, but when we catch this early, there is hope and treatment. It’s when it’s left too late that our hands are tied. We wanted these women to know: you are not alone, and help is here.
Vinaka vakalevu for allowing us to serve not just the tournament, but the wider Levuka community.
