Ilana adapts Yoga to individual needs, in the tradition of Tirumalai Krishnamacharya, his son TKV Desikachar, and their student Mark Whitwell. She has been practicing Yoga for over 22 years and teaching since 2017. Drawing upon ongoing studies in India and with international teachers in Fiji, she teaches individual lessons and small groups. "If you can breathe, you can do Yoga!" No-one should be excluded from Yoga, as it can be adapted to all body types, ages, cultures, religions, health situations and energy levels. The Yoga should come to the person, not the person try to warp themselves to yoga. This Yoga is non-religious, but suitable for people of all religions or none. Ilana teaches a gentle form of Hathayoga, involving moving with the breath in such a way that the mind becomes peaceful and at ease. It is for mind, body and spirit simultaneously. It is not a sweaty workout or fitness class. The breath must be the focus of Yoga in order for it to have its promised benefits and avoid injury. Done correctly, Yoga helps us sleep, be more loving and peaceful with others, release stress, and build resilience and health in our life.
