Time to learn a new way of being!

As life careens out of our control and we're hunkering down, I know anxiety can run rampant.

I'm starting a virtual support group to help people cope, deal, vent, develop ways of calming. It's important that we have outlets to talk about how we feel, brainstorm what to do, and incorporate internal resources for reducing anxiety.

This isn't therapy (altho you have the benefit of a psychologist), but a place to come together and find community in our isolation.Once or twice a week, drop in as you can.

It'll be on Zoom Mondays 4pm Central and Thursdays 11am. Let me know you're in. Link in comments.

Three Ways to Reduce Holiday Stress

While many enjoy the holidays, you just may be stressed by the whole thing. There's a lot of pressure to have the perfect Hallmark holiday, complete with smiling faces and not a stress bug in sight! Commercials seem to exist to remind you of what you might lack in your life (time, money, family)...So how to get through it all and maybe, just maybe, enjoy yourself?

Take Five
Yes, make it a point to take five minutes out of every day to focus on you. Five minutes may not seem like much, but that's exactly why I am telling you to do it. For five minutes, sit down with a cup of tea and just breathe. No thinking, no doing, just being. I want this time to be just yours!

Give Something Up
Yes, that's right. You're doing too much and I want you to give something up. It can be an activity, decorating the entire house, or baking cookies for the neighborhood. Respectfully decline the invitations to overcommit so that you can more fully enjoy the rest of your time.

Practice Gratitude
You don't have to start a gratitude journal (although it's a good idea--maybe for the new year?). When you wake up tomorrow, before you get out of bed, think about one or two things for which you're grateful. That's enough to re-set your morning brain. Practice this as often as you remember and it may change you.

Remember: It doesn't have to be a big change to make a big difference!

Make 2020 a better year for yourself:
*Consider working on one area of your life. Just one.
*Make a plan.
*Set some goals.
*Be as specific as you can, really break it down.
*Celebrate each and every inch of progress.
