🙋🏽♀️ I’ll talk about WHY to pay for private sessions in another post…
In the meantime, here’s WHEN to pay for private sessions…
1️⃣ The doctor or physio has told you to start Pilates. Maybe you’ve recently had an injury, are post-surgery (breast, back or shoulder surgery), or have had a diagnosis (like osteoporosis, vaginal prolapse, osteoarthritis, frozen shoulder). You want someone to work with you 1:1 and make sure you’re doing things well, safely and with ease before moving into group classes or into a gym on your own.
⚠️ Remember: Your Pilates teacher is not a medical professional and should never diagnose, read your X-rays or prescribe exercise for injury. Your Pilates teacher should always go on the recommendations of your medical professional.
2️⃣ You’ve never done Pilates before and want to learn the basics.
⚠️ Remember, there are many different studios out there and most studios and teachers won’t take the time to truly teach you the practice. They’ll just GET STARTED straight away and expect to you to follow along and know what you’re doing.
🧐 I’ve had new clients start with me who’ve been ‘doing Pilates for 10-years’ but they don’t know the basics. This is not the client’s fault. Sadly, many teachers don’t trust in and teach their clients the basics.
3️⃣ You’ve been practicing for a long time — maybe at the same studio or with the same teacher — and you’ve reached a plateau. You’re bored, not learning, not growing and not being challenged.
🌪️ Time to change things up a bit and get a fresh new perspective on your body and your perspective. “When we change the way we do things, the things we do change.”
🤍 Remember: Pilates isn’t a quick fix. We recommend a minimum of 5-10 private sessions to start seeing results.
