Well after a quite few days in peg 2 john has banked a brace of thirties first catching a fish called Adam at 32lb then banking a 35lb fish at breakfast today from the tough going peg 2.
I left foxpool yesterday at 1pm to fly back to the uk. steve and simon were picked up by my good friend paul young and taken to there van to be collected with the van and taken home finally. After a tough time for them both . I messaged steve at 10 this morning and they still hadn't reached calais after the driver was late arriving so there trauma continues but least they'll both be back with family soon and can heal in the comfort of there own home.
Big thanks to paul for stepping up as I couldn't take them as I was flying back to the uk with Tom.
The weather has cooled and there was a thunderstorm as we took off from limoges.
I dont know how heavy the rain was at the lake but thats what we need to drop the water temperature. It's fished better than last week but still slow and the bigger fish are not showing . David in peg 4 had a good start but it slowed up for him and he tried maize yesterday. with only Andy catching daily in the shallows water where the fish seem to be holding up I think as it cools now the fish will head to deeper water and peg 3 will kick in.
I have 1 spot possibly 2 as ive not heard back off Adam for the work party week in October from the 18th if anyone is interested in a free week fishing breakfast and tackle hire will be provided but you'll have to arrange getting here and pay for bait or bring your own we will collect from limoges on the Saturday 18th on the Manchester and stanstead flight which Jason and steve are voming on. Get in touch if youve been out this year , you must be physically fit as we'll working on pegs .flights are cheap at that time and ill supply sleeping bags and towels to save space. October can be good with the fish at top weights and condition. But we are at the end of pressured season so it can be hard but the rewards can be good.
Well done john on the fish hopefully they'll get a few more before im back tomorrow evening.

A big change in the weather today with only 19° ,and some light drizzle . There's already been more fish out than last week . Andy in peg 1 is catching consistently and he's had 6 i think . David in peg 3 had a brace of thirtys but nothing last night . John is covering peg 2 and 3 water but despite fish showing hasn't managed to temp one yet but did land a 32lb mirror on Andy rod when he was in the toilet.
The wind has turned blowing into peg 3 now so hopefully they push a few John's way . Hopefully the hot weather is over now or at least the extreme high temperatures.
The lake next door is almost empty now unfortunately we lost a few cats and carp in there but I managed to save what I could. The silt/mud is unbelievably hard to wade through. up to your waste ill be glad when it's dug out with a sold bottom hopefully then we will have a minimum depth of 5ft which will be good and when the fish are moved over it won't be long until there fed up to twenty and thirty pound plus over the next few years.
I was throwing some bread in the stockpond last night and there was a group of mirrors, mouths open feeding on the top bubbles everywhere like a whirlpool bath and they were all doubles. Can't wait to net that next spring. I will leave a dozen or so pristine fish only in there after to grow on quicker and spawn as there's far to many fish in there now thats why there not growing over mid doubles just to crowded.
Unfortunately simon and steve are still waiting to return to the uk . It's a nightmare for them both as there both in a lot of discomfort and trying to get through to the the relevant insurance company and police and hospital reports has been difficult also they need a fit to travel notice off the hospital for there travel insurance. They have hopefully arrange collection for them and the van with there gear for tomorrow from a company in Oxford to repatriate them. Simon is desperate to get home as his mum is not well in hospital. It's a nightmare scenario for them both . We're doing our best to help them out me and tom are staying in silve and gerts gite so they can stay here and were keeping them fed and watered. Gert is helping with translation.
Just make sure you have the correct travel and breakdown cover if your coming out to france as it could be a costly experience if not.
I've had several enquiries come in this week for 2026 can I just remind the groups that have booked on for next year and not paid the deposits we won't hold dates indefinitely without a deposit . July and August are more or less sold out now but plenty of space left for the other months .
I have invited a few lads out for a end of season workpary im just waiting to here from a couple if they've changed there minds and can't make it might have a couple more spaces on the 18th October. I will collect from limoges and supply free fishing for the week and a breakfast and do bq 1 night but evening meals you'll have to cook yourself as im busy with the contractor digging Chad's pool out. If there any space i'll offer the other places to lads who been out this year first
Work will involve peg work ,drainage, packing down and cleaning gear possibly a lick of paint for the cabin wood chopping. You need to be physically fit of coarse. Heres what the boys had so far and what steve and simon had last week . Thanks Graham.

Well what a absolute bloody nightmare for steve and simon last week . As if sitting in the 40° degrees heat wasn't bad enough and only 7 fish out between the 3 of them it got worse.
I was taking the other steve back to the airport when we got a call off steve saying they'd been involved in a road traffic accident and both were injured and simons new transit custom was probably a right off , the poor buggers only had it a few months and it was in mint condition.
After I returned from limoges I text him to let him know if there was anything I could do to let me know.steve said they had both been transferred to hospital in ambulances ,blue lights all the way and simon removed on a spinal board.
I eventually got a call off steve after id done the new lads dinner saying he was free to leave but simon was still awaiting consent . I said id go and pick them up if they needed and bring them back to the lake . Ive been on dog sitting duty for jaxx as silve and gert are away in Belgium for a few days.
Steve phoned about 7.30 saying simon would be allowed to leave so I dropped my son Thomas off at silves to look after jaxx and set off on the 300 mile round trip to collect the boys . When I arrived they came out of a&e very gingerly and it was obvious they were both in a lot of pain . After getting them in the car every little bump in the road is greeted with a cry of pain . Good job we weren't on English roads ah.
Steve said he was starving and if we passed a McDonald's could we stop but we didn't. We eventually got back around 1.30 so i made them a pizza and a much needed cup of tea for us all, Then went off to to join tom at gerts.
Simon and steve slept in the house or at least tried too. I was back at 8.30 and did them both breakfast with the new lads.
Unfortunately the lads left the passports in the van . But having been on the phone to the insurance all morning it's going to be a long process of getting there van gear and themselves back home. Apparently the van insurance will only give them £50 for onwards travel luckily they both have travel insurance which will hopefully cover them getting home. But they won't repatriate there gear of the vehicle which i find unbelievable from Hastings insurance.
An absolute bloody nightmare which is no fault of there own as a young driver pulled out on crossroads not seeing the stop sign and has admitted liability.
The lads are obviously welcome to stay here as long as it takes and ill do everything I can to make them comfortable and help them out of this nightmare.
Brighter news Andy, john and David have returned this week after a nightmare session last year when the fished started spawning the 2nd day of the trip. Andy had a 38lb and a couple more poor David blanked and john only had 1. Bur it's a better start this time for Andy and David with 5 fish between then already. Andy had a nice upper twenty before a brace of 31lb fish in the night.David had a 33lb mirror before breakfast and has just slipped the net under another . John in peg 2 and still waiting.
Hopefully we get some rain this week with thunderstorms predicted Tuesday. God knows we need it.

Have to feel for boys fishing in this insane heat .temperatures are hitting 40° ,this week and it's not comfortable to sit in and as you'd expect the fish just are not interested. Steve and simon have been regulars ever since covid and copped for spawning on there last visit in late April last year , so I sorted them a discounted week .
There joined by simons neighbour this year, another steve who dropped into peg 2 . They've all had a couple of fish but it's been hard work and there just doing there best to keep cool . Steve has moved to peg 4 today and has resorted to putting wet towels on the bivvy to stay cool. A friend of mine who opened up a lake this year with a cabin that you can sleep in had his clients leave yesterday due to the extreme heat.
Steve gave me a lift netting some carp out of Chad's pool earlier which was heavy work . I didn't expect the temperatures to rise so high and I lowered the water right down to net the fish , unfortunately this has lead to a few carp and catfish going belly up I decided to pump the rest of the water out and net to save what I could and put in the stockpond. It's amazing how many fish are in there considering it was completely empty 3 years . It's not what I originally planned and you should never move fish this time of year but I need to have the lake bed dried out in time for the contractor in mid October. So needs must. But not ideal.
I got burnt in the sun and trying to wade through waste deep mud with a landing net is not fun in a pair of chest waders in this heat. But it will be worth it hopefully come the winter.
Hers a few Steve's had in peg 1 3x 30lb+

Well the lovely tasker family joined us again last week with family friend nick on his first visit to foxpool.
20 fish out between them unfortunately the two Ronnie's missed a couple each on friday night. Not a brilliant week for numbers or big fish with a brace of 36lb fish for sue and younger Ronnie the biggest.
Nick started in peg 3 then moved into peg 1 then finished in peg 4 so he certainly worked hard for his new pb 30lb plus fish but unfortunately there was still no forty for sue after grabbing her pb 38lb last year hubby Ron had two tone last year his first fifty pound carp and was quick out of the traps grabbing a couple of fish in the first 2 hours from the new peg 4 he had a few thirtys but the big girls weren't playing ball . Young Ronnie had a couple of small fish from peg 1 before a move to peg 3 which started quite but he got amongst a few after I left to pick my tom up on Wednesday.
When I left it was warm but not uncomfortably so, but when I returned Friday and stepped off the plane the heat hit me and as we got in the car the temperature gauge read 36° and i couldn't touch the steering wheel it was so hot.
I picked some more bollies up from Andrew at UNION JACK BAITS to top the freezers back up on my way back to the lake and when I pulled up I noticed ron and sue were in peg 1 and sue was looking rather pink .
It's still baking today after 36° again yesterday and 34 ° today it's been a slow start steve had a mid twenty common just before breakfast and after I pulled in this evening hed just lost one too a hook pull in peg1 .
Steve and simon have been out the last 4 years and are joined by another steve on his first visit. There starting on pegs 1,2 and 3 steve and simon on the coconut cream like last week and snail.
Steve who's flew in yesterday afternoon as they couldn't add him onto there crossing without cancelling there existing booking , didn't bother casting in last night but he's on the union jack tigernut and mb baits nut brittle. I think nighttime will be there best chance for a bite in these temperatures which are due to stay above 30 all week.
I had hoped after the really hot weather was now behind us ,after the weather we had the last few weeks .
Big thanks to sue and ron for the bottle and chocolates .much Apreciatted and look forward to seeing you all again next year. Also thanks to silve and gert for feeding them all whilst I nipped home to collect my son Thomas . Good job!

Well bites have slowed up with only Ron bagging another 30plus yesterday from.peg 4.Nic lost one last night after moving into 1.
A different aproach to steve and peter who both kept the bait going in over the week and getting them feeding. Theyve only had 7k of bollies which if you work out over 12 rods is over 3 days isnt a lot, Our baitboats do hold a lot more bait than the ones being used this week and i think the fish are more used to dropping down on larger beds of bait . I'd certainly of put a big bed of bait on one spot and let them come in on it as there big fish and think you've got more chance of holding a group of fish on bigger beads rather than just picking the odd fish up passing over a small.patch of bait especially as no bait went in last week just like the week before steve and peter were on.
Ron had his fish on coconut cream and young Ronnie had a small bag of my favourite snail yesterday, but they swapped swims yesterday and going to swap again tomorrow. The weather was hot yesterday and it looks more favourable today with overcast conditions so hopefully they get on them.
Im nipping back to the uk tomorrow afternoon to collect my son and back on Friday afternoon so silve stepping in to do the meals whilst I'm away.

The Taskers have landed, 4 fishing and Crystal topping up her tan.
Ron and Sue have doubled up in the new peg 4 and it didn't take our Ron long to christen the new peg after dinner he put his rods out and had a 33lb common within a hour , then quickly after followed that with a 27lb mirror.. Sue is also off the mark in 4 with a low twenty in the night. Young Ronnie set up in one and had a couple of small ones a 18lb in the night and at breakfast his rod ripped off and he had a little zip linear of about 5lb that has come through in here . One for the future thats about half dozen that have come out now that have come through and they've all been corkers .
Nic has joined us this year and he's dropped into peg 3 but he's still waiting for his first fish but I'm sure it won't be long. 5 fish out so far and they've not been here a day a good start just need a few biggies and forty for sue .

New peg 4 is ready for business, and a lot of fish showing there yesterday afternoon when I put the bivvy up. Needs landscaping around it but that will have to wait until the works completed on the new lake. Im pumping out now and clearing the banks and bushes so I can start with a blank canvas , except a couple of willows ill leave in. Amazing how many fish are in there now . Hopefully it's can net it the week after next when Steve's here.
Really pleased with the new peg and I managed to get a descent hold on the pegs as we had strong winds yesterday.
Next will be the double swim two then the new peg 1 which will be on the field bank which will be a disabled platform peg . I'd also like to take peg 3 further back to give more room but ill have to put a retaining structure in to hold the clay when I fill it in . All the trees need to removed from the dam wall eventually, as its now a requirement of the ddt when I go to have the licence renewed. Lot to keep me busy over the next few years then.

Well we're closed this week ,but I'm busy finishing the new peg and cutting up and removing the 80ft oak i felled Saturday. Not stopped since the last group left finishing at 9 tonight but I'm almost there now, it didn't help that I had a hydraulic pipe burst on the jcb which I needed to get made at john deere and fit this morning.
We had a bit of rain this morning and the weather is similar to last week ,not too hot which is good for grafting in .
Gert has got me 6 ton of stone to finish the peg off that he's dropped at his place I was going to have a day off tomorrow as I'm.shattered but ill nip down for a few loads in the morning and get the peg topped up so I can put the bivvy up ready for sue and her family landing Saturday.
Im going to nip to carrefour friday now and get some maggots and have a afternoon float fishing on the mainlake and in the stockpond there's some descent roach in here now so I'm going have a day float fishing and chilling as its my last chance as we're full every week now til we close mid October.
I filled the old peg 4 in now , it's another 20 strides to the new peg from the cabin but it huge peg and now your fishing the water infront of you plus you dont need to drag the fish up the bank to the cradle
I think stealth will be the key in this new peg a lot of fish come from the corner and the bush to the left so if your quite they still can be hot-spots . But it may change the outlay of the swim and where the fish come from.
Hopefully we're over the hottest weather now August has been a good month previosly then we creep in to autumn, I think and hope the 2nd half of the season fishes better than the first as its been quite tough this year for most groups. Mainly due to weather and spawning.
I took delivery of half a ton of pellet yesterday for the.2nd half of the season and our winter feed program . And I'm collecting more bollies next week to top the freezers up. So it's all go. We have 5 on next week 4 fishing and 1 guest . A regular group led by Sue and the 2 ronnies. Father and son. Ron bagged two tone last year and Sue will be hoping for a 40lb plus this year.

Always a pleasure to have these 3 on the lake. Conditions were great for fishing this week which helps
When they arrived pete set up in peg 2 as he did well in there last year ,steve and Amy fished on the end of a south westerly wind in peg 3. Peter was first off the mark bagging a 33lb &16 lb fish first night steve had to wait a little longer but banked 6 fish in the 2nd 24 hours . Pete also dropped 3 fish in peg 2 before moving into one then bagging 7 fish in 24 hours.
Peter finished on 13 fish upto 43.4lb and had 7 over 30lb to 37.12lb also had a few smaller fish that have come through in foxpool naming one tich a nice scaley little mirror after his late brother, who he lost a few years ago to cancer. He also had 4 small catfish which were removed and lost a few more and would of been on twenty fish if he'd converted everything he hooked.
Steve however didn't loose a fish all week and no cats . He fished spirulina from UNION JACK BAITS a new bait that were trying out this year from Andrew. Pete was on coconut cream which always goes well.
He bagged 15 fish ,3 over 40lb to 41.12lb 7 over 30lb of which 4 were over 35lb to 37lb 4 twentys 2 x 28lb 2x27lb and 1 small common. He also had a play in the stockpond and had 4 all around the 10lb mark. Good angling steve.
Big thanks for leaving and the cabin and baitboats spotlessly clean and steve giving me a lift barrowing the stone from the old to the new peg 4. And leaving me a very generous tip much appreciated and we look forward to seeing you all next July.
Friday I decided to fell the last big oak from the gully in between the two lakes as it will be filled with clay from the new lake in October. I did a deep v cut on the Chad's lake side of the trunk hoping it would fall that way . As I started to cut through the backside towards the v cut the tree trapped the the saw and went towards foxpool . Steve was watching me and said it not going the way you wanted amazingly it stayed upright so I said Im going to get the jcb around and get the backhoe against the trunk and try to push it towards Chad's pool unfortunately time ran out and I said I'd do it after I dropped them off Saturday. When I arrived back from the airport the tree was still standing I'd removed the chainsaw body just leaving the bar and chain trapped. I messaged steve to see if they arrived back ok he messaged back saying the car battery was flat at the airport and was waiting for assistance.
Moments later I heard a almighty crash as the tree fell . I feared the worse and thought I'd spend most of the week trying to remove it from. Foxpool but as I walked around much to my amazement and relief the slight wind must of been enough to push it the intended way. "THANKYOU LORD" That saved me a lot of hassle and work.
I've put the membrane on the new peg and removed half the stone that was about 6 inch deep from the old swim i need to level the back off now the diggers gone put more membrane down then move the rest of the stone over and get some more from the quarry to top up then it's ready to fish from. It's a bit of a sun trap but eventually ill put conifers around to provide shade around it. The swim is massive meaning I can leave my bivvys up when we get lads that use there own gear.

The lads are both into double figures now .peter had a result of 6 or 7 fish in 24hours including a forty plus .Steve had a brace of forties now and I think they've had 7 or 8 over 35lb aswell. It's slowed up for steve in peg 3 but he had a take about 10.30 last night as we played cards resulting in a nice 31lb mirror with 2 large scales on it's top . Petes lost a fair few this week and would be heading towards 20 fish if he banked everything that he'd hooked. He's also had a couple of small fish under 10lb that have come through in the lake ,it's something thats coming more regular as the big cats aren't picking them off anymore . Im putting them back in atm as the stockpond is over full but next year we'll remove them into the Chad's pool to grow them on in there.
They couldn't of wanted for better conditions this week with plenty of cloud cover and high winds and some rain and temperatures in the high teens to low twentys making it good for fishing and the fish have played ball. UNION JACK BAITS sepulina and coconut cream doing the business over particle and pellet .
Im hoping to have the new peg complete next week finally ready for Sue and her clan out on the 2nd. We're shut next week and ill be busy clearing the gully and stoning the new swim 4.
I've removed 2 big oak trunks that fell and I'm felling another big oak today and removing it with the digger and chains.
I've sprayed everywhere in the gully with w**d killer and hopefully I can get the digger down there to pile everything up for a fire before the big machinery lands in October so a lot of what's coming out of the lake can fill the valley between the two lakes.
I need to contact the ddt about what work needs to be done to acquire a licence to allow us to open it as a fishery. I know the dam walls needs to be cleared of all trees and has to be built up 2ft higher than the water level and I think I will have to put a overflow spillway in as on foxpool also a silt trap where the water comes in and leaves . But there's plenty of time to do that the biggest job is getting it dug out.
I think the hot weather is due to return next week I'm pumping out from nextdoor and it's half empty now in a few week ill put a net through it and get the cats out then empty it completely.
Hopefully the fish continue to feed for those coming out in the 2nd half of the season, it's been patchy to say the least 1st half with not many anglers hitting double figures. But the fish are starting to pack the weight back on again and come September October time those upper 30s will be low forties again a lot of the bigger fish still haven't been out yet so a few surprises hopefully instore yet.
Big thanks for steve van silver who's out next month for picking up a new microcat for me i bought on Ebay from a angler on bluebell fisheries and he's fetching it over on the 9th August. Had a couple of issues with baitboat this year so ive now got 4 microcats so a few spare as we only usually hire 2 out a week. This one has a fish finder on it too. He messaged me to say hed collected it and it looked in good nick it cones with a solar panel aswell for charging on the swims. Cheets steve.

The change of conditions has got the fish feeding again. These are 2 of our regulars on this week so there familiar with the water.
Peter bagged a couple on first night and lost 1 then had another 30 plus Sunday and then lost 2 in the tough peg 2 last night. He's decided on a move to 1 after breakfast as the fish are showing in there.
Steve had a quite first 24 hours in peg 3 then the fish moved onto the end of a strong wind and he bagged 6 fish upto 40lb with a couple over 35lb to boot in 12 hours . He had another 27lb in the night and he's just bagged a 35.8lb common so he's on 8 fish now from peg 3 and petes had 3 ,2 x30+ ,and a 16lb stocky he's dropped 3 and had 3 small cats on pest control . Thanks mate.
Just a quick reminder to all those coming out in the 2nd half that we no.longer supply line on the reels but we sell it €13 for a large spool but we always recommend that you bring your own reels if you can fit them in as your used to playing fish on your own stuff. Also there a €50 returnable deposit if your using our gear to paid on arrival and return when the gears been checked at the end of the session. If your drive and survive it's €30 as your only using our nets, tripods slings and cradles. And drive and survive have to take and recycle there own rubbish also.
Im back levelling the new peg and cutting trees down in the revine between the two lakes ready for when we start digging in October.
Thanks Graham.
