After the wettest start to the year, the last few days have been glorious sunshine with 21 ° degrees in February. Crazy days. We open up 5th April this year hopefully march is a lot dryer than January & February .
I've received the one more cast stock list so over the next few days i will go through that to stock up on end tackle for the new tackle wall and ill put a order in to rig marole for the free fall tubing and hooks lead clips ect.
Guys out in may & june I will be chasing up your balance shortly as its due 12 weeks before your trip.
I will have forked out over £5000 in the last month on baitboats ,bait , pellets new slings, end tackle wall food. . Don't buy a lake guys you'll never be rich. Nice view though. Going need a bigger truck to fetch it all over.

Wet wet wet. A unbelievable amount of rain over the last 2 weeks has most french lakes flooded out and were no exception. With the spillway struggling to shift what's coming in at the same rate it goes out. I have jacked the spillway up so the lake is at the maximum depth before we start with the hot weather in may , but I've had to take the board out to drop it down as the front of the pegs and paths are flooded as we've had over a foot of rainfall in a 10 day period. Ive never known a winter so wet as this in the 8 years since I took over.
Hopefully with spring around the corner now, the rain diminishes and we get some warm winds to dry the banks out.
Better news though both solar tackle and one more cast have got back to me and i'm in the process of setting up accounts with both companies. So all being well we will have the new slings in place for the start of the season. And the end tackle wall will be full of goodies for you to top up your end tackle if you want to save space in your luggage or need anything whilst your here .
We will have everything from hooks, leads clips, tubing, hooklimks ready made rigs, ,rig foam ,pva bags and mesh baiting needles, scissors ect ect on site for your convenience.
I see more and more anglers every year buying pre tied rigs and having been to Pacific peche several times with lads I think the omc gear is about the best .I have to take my hat off to Ali hamedi and the one more cast crew as there presentation and innovation of new stuff is amazing in such a short time that they've been out. Im really excited to see what they have to offer and in the pipeline. However we won't be stocking there twig system or any adaptions of it ,sorry as its not allowed . We will also have a few other products from rig marole continue to stock the free fall tubing which im a huge fan of as you know.
Im Also going to get more sleeping bags in for the new season as its really taken off people hiring them out to save space in there luggage as it a bulky item . I will see if I can get some warmer ones for the lads on early depending on cost . But we need more as if there hired out back to back weeks its a quick turnaround laundering them all on a busy change over day.
The baitboats have arrived back with the new conversions fitted so all 4 microcats now are self priming . so you dont have to kneel by the waters edge to prime the jets just press the button and your away. Thanks Graham.

Snow in the night just a sprinkling . I took this photo off the camera mounted on the house gable . You can see how full the new lake is from it ,over peg 4. Both lakes are brimming after all the rain. A lot of lakes near rivers have lost fish where the rivers have burst there banks i read on keith moores post . Apparently fields are turning into lakes in certain areas . I know the barrage on the river cruese is fully open after all the rain. Hard to believe how much rainfall were getting must be a nightmare for the farmers. Hopefully march is dry.
Ive put several more intakes in over the years , trying to get as much water in the lake . with a ditch around the field edge and down the driveway to Chad's pool .
When steve and jay was here in October we put pipes from the gutter water from the lean to and log store. The water off the cabin now goes in too the lake aswell, as water is a commodity in the hot summer months and every drop counts.
Now Chad's pool is full with depths now on average over 6ft we can top up when foxpool starts to drop in the summer i do intend to extend the ditch in the field and run it into 3 nursery ponds i want to dig out for breeding, then it will overflow in to foxpool.

Love is in the air this weekend boys so don't forget your cards and flowers this weekend lads to keep her happy .
Its been a truly horrible week weather wise this week with so much rain dumped on us . At the start of the week it hit 16° ,which is crazy for the start of February.
The Lakes are over flowing now with so much water washing through and the overflow is struggling to keep up . The bank is flooded in between peg 2 and the cabin . 1st job this year when it dries off enough to get the diggers working is to get a land drain in to stop this area flooding. Once the drains in im going to put a french bowls pitch there for your entertainment.
Ive just paid the bill for the repairs, sevice and conversions on the 3 baitboats.
Also got a reply off solar tackle about a trade account. so im setting up a new account so ill be ordering the new xl slings off them as the new ones last yesr weren't up to standard. Apparently solar don't do end tackle anymore but are happy to supply fishcare items. so im ordering some end tackle off rig marole I have a contact for the fox rep here in france but might see if omc can supply as a lot of anglers buy pre tied rigs now and there's looks quality.
The bait orders have gone in now to both mb baits and UNION JACK BAITS .
So the freezers will be full for the start of the season. Ive also ordered some more h**p tubs in normal chilli and garlic . Also liam asked me for some of his carpet feed (flake maize) so ive got a few 5 k bags of that in to see how that goes it's a dry mix that you just soak in lake water.
Too start with flavour wise we have ensign with snail flavour & nut brittle & maple in 18mm and union jack are doing me ,
Coconut cream
Pineapple nbutric
Cranberry plus
Tigernut
Spiralina
Scopex squid.
Crayfish &,krill. ALL IN 20MM ..
We will.also have the matching glugs pop ups and waftas in aswell. Bait prices are held the same price as last year.
Only 7 weeks tomorrow until the new season kicks off still plenty of space if you want a trip out this year. Looking forward now to opening up for kieron and the boys hopefully the mild weather continues so there wide awake for when the lads chuck in.
Heres a few scaleys to wet your appetite. Happy valentines weekend 💕 all.

Caught this little bu**er on the bank on camera this week. Ive been ill this week with noravirus keeping me in bed 2 days solid . But looked on the camera to find a coypu on the bank in had eradicated them all last year around 20 removed but they always come back so the traps are out again.
Ive asked kieron who's on 1st week if he and the lads want to help.me net the stockpond whilst there here hopefully Paul and Ed can make it too . The more the.merrier. both lakes are full now so I want to put the best in Chad's pool to grow on. Im hopefully getting some nice fish in the autumn off a freind bigger than what's going in that I know are a great strain that we will grow on in there too.
Its going to a busy year work wise on the new lake this year as I want to get the canopy on the cabin and water and electricity supplies over there. And want to plant some nice plants around the place when its landscaped hope to get the 3 pegs on it too.
Also I'm need to get a land drain in at the house bank to the cabin where it keeps flooding and get the double peg.in between 1 and 2 .
Ive had a couple of booking come in for next year this week . Im closing for two weeks in may next year as im having a big birthday bash on the weekend of 15th/16th May for my 60th so going to shut the week either side of that to prepare and clear up.
Bait orders are in now and I getting gear ordered to take over in March when im in the uk. Im hoping to get new solar slings in for the new season but there marketing team have not got back to me yet unfortunately. Baitboats are still not ready yet but should be soon . We have 4 microcats now and all have been serviced and fitted with a self prime conversation making it a lot easier to use. Im going to purchase a plastic wheelbarrow to transport to the swimscas there a heavy boat and we had to replace several handles now at a large cost as its £225 plus vat to split and re seal the boats . So lots to sort before we open in 8 weeks . Hopefully the rain subsides and it drys out before the boys arrive . The fish aren't so active atm still in the winter slumber. The rain washing through is keeping the water cool.

Just had a cancellation come in for August 15th this year. August was more or less fully booked but this week is now totally free for upto 4 anglers .

Always glad to get to the end of January when the days start to stretch again. Spring is now just around the corner and next month the daffodils start to push through the soil and then into flower . Then in march were in to the spring with the air smelling fresh and sunny longer days finally arrive shutting down another Winter chapter.
Bookings are down on last year which I expected after losing the big girl, and last year was our busiest year by far , I didn't want it to be so busy. But we had a cancellation come in for 1 angler booked on in May freeing up may the may 2nd week if anyone wants it . This week is usually just before spawning so they'll certainly be at there top weights then.
Only 9 weeks now until we open up for my 8th season running foxpool, god how that time has flown by . Its been a rewarding but sometimes testing place over the last 8 years especially with covid more or less closing us down for 2 seasons.
But I've met some great people and the fish have come on leaps and bounds and its great watching anglers realise there dreams of a big forty or fifty pound fish.
We had the highs of the great two tone going over sixty and Ian catching her pre spawning in May 2022 at 65lb. Alas nothing last forever and it was a hard day when we lost her last year. But I think hopefully the long mirror that wasn't out last year will push on towards 60lb mark over the next 2 years as its got a huge frame on it. But they'll never be another two tone as she was caught regularly throughout the season,as she loved them bollies .
I've just put my order in for mb baits last week and I'm collecting them.the end of march .I'll put another order in for UNION JACK BAITS shortly so we're stocked up ready for opening in April. The baitboats will be ready this week also.
I've held the bait prices on everything bollies ,particle and pellet for this season.
Big thanks for the lads out in April for getting there balance paid on time .
Flight times are a pain this year meaning quite a large gap between Stansted and east Midlands flights which may mean a longer wait at the airport for those departing to east Midlands when I have to collect a stanstead group. But that I can't control it's upto Ryanair to decide schedule's unfortunately.

Flight times Saturday's.
East Midlands arrives to limoges at 16.05
Departing 16.30.

Stanstead arrives 13.00 departing 13.25
Summer flights.

Leeds arrives 11.55 departing 12.20.

Im hoping for a better standard of angling this season there was far too many fish lost last, year week after week lads were losing fish. Ive been carp angling for over 45 years and I use a minimum of a 3oz lead . The lead is the first point if contact when your hook hits the carps mouth, so the first resistance it feels before it bolts. Always keep your hook sharp . I check mine even when new and after every retrieval . I recommend you treat yourself to a jag hook sharpener system with eye piece files and vice I think there about £25 but the price of hooks these days you'll soon get your outlay back. Im currently using esp cryogen and gripper hooks.
The amount of lads I see running too there rods and striking like thrre hitting into 1000k sail fish ,then saying its gone is untrue. If the fish is running its hooked, you dont need to strike just lift the rod to set the hook your not fishing at 120 yads on here so the stretch in the line in minimal.
If you have just nicked the fish or its not nailed all your doing is ripping the hook out.
Finally keep that line tight ,don't try and bully the fish they are a hard fighting strain of fish in here so enjoy the fight and don't try netting it until its beat and gasping for air. We see all standard of anglers on here but remember im.hete to help and advise. Its the greatest buzz of this job seeing anglers land a lump and smash there pbs.

Now we have some revenue coming in off the lake bookings ive started to do some shopping. I bought a couple of bivvy tables to replace the 2 that dave and Tyrone broke. Got the fabsil to re proof the bivvys . Aldi have the neoprene wellies back in but only in black at under £30 if you like a bargain saves paying £100 plus for dirtboots for the sane thing. Also got a service kit for the mower and oil for the machines.
I got a shock off angling technics for the boat conversions that came in at well over £2000 with delivery back they've been taken over and I think the new owners are trying to recoup there money fast. Apparently its £225 minimum charge to split the boats . So the handle that got broke last week would £250 to repair £25 for the handle to to split the boat ridiculous 🙄. I will maybe look at phasing them out but there grest boats . But we will have to increase rental by €10
To recoup some of the outlay. I had them all converted to self prime now so you just push the button and they go rather than kneeling down getting the jets to prime . Better for us old folk.
Its a windy day here after a wet week the new lake is totally covered now and we will have to close the pipe soon to stop it flowing back to foxpool.
A few more booking and enquiries in this week but still have availability in April may june and September/October..
Only 10 weeks till we open now for my 8th season, how time flys.

Getting a lot of enquires in this week .unfortunately there's been a error brought to my attention on the dream carp holidays website where it says there is 235 fortys in the lake. I wish. there's not 235 carp in the lake never mind fortys . I dont know any lake with that amount of fortys in it, never mind our little pool. I'd be booked up 10 years in advance with that amount of big fish swimming around.
Just to confirm we have head of approximately 150 fish in a tad under 4 acres with 3 known 50lb plus carp a good head of fortys between 30 to 40 depending on the time of year most fish are over 30lb with the rest twentys and few small ones that have sneaked through since the cats have been reduced. We still have a couple of large catfish in but will continue to remove them as there landed.
We still have a few prime weeks left April the 11th is free surprisingly the 2nd week were open and early may when they can be at there biggest. Im hoping the leather dave had at 48lb last September will go 50 this year and a lot of those 38 ,39lb fish will push on to forty plus.
We have doubled the feed of cooked maize and pellet going in the closed season and the fish haven't seen a line in since Jason and steve brought the curtain down on last season in October so they'll be in top condition come April when kierons group kick off the new season.
Anyone wanting to book please get in touch for the latest availability as its changes rapidly at this time of year now Xmas holidays are finished and people plan there summer holidays. Thanks Graham foxpool.

What a difference a few days make. on Tuesday the lake was covered in snow sat on 2inch of solid ice but its all melted now and the ducks are back on the lake so I can now put the lime in the deep end.
The last picture shows Chad's pool filling up to the 2 patches of old lake bed in the shallows so all the water in now, is below the original depth another 2 weeks it will be completely full. Been repairing the jcb this week ready for the summer.
Notice the difference in colour from the 2 pools , despite filling from foxpool
I think eventually when the lakebed settles it will be gin clear obviously the fish will stir it up a bit when they go in.
Only 12 weeks now until kieron and the lads kick off the new season I will need contacting the groups out in April overr the weekend to let them know there balance is due later this month 12 weeks prior to coming out. Thanks Graham foxpool.
