Beautiful yoga friends,
I’m delighted to host this very special yoga workshop in my home village of Bouc Bel Air in Provence, the south of France.

This is the perfect opportunity for those of you who want to know more about the traditional method of teaching Ashtanga yoga. You will be given lots of practical, hands-on experience balanced with theoretical input. You will learn the art of adjusting and the ins and outs of a Mysore room. Please bring your curiosity and questions.

Daily Yogic Lifestyle Skills
As this is a long course, not only will you be going deeper into your personal ashtanga yoga practice, you will also develop healthy yogic lifestyle skills which come from living a yogic routine.

Accommodation
Students are responsible for finding their own accommodation (I am happy to give recommendations. For those who would like, please send an email requesting accommodation details).

Food (Optional Extra)
For students who would like, it is possible to request one main meal (vegetarian, home-made and freshly prepared with love) meal per day.

Fees
Special Discounts exist for students who pay in before 20th September 2024.

Find happiness and contentment within yourself so that you can allow (and celebrate) your children to be who they are and not who you want them to be (while still giving them your love and guidance).

Not always easy to realise (no wonder parenting is called 7th series!).

Stay Focused

There are so many distractions that draw our attention away from our hearts.

Some of these are (seemingly) pleasant and pleasure fulfilling, while others are painful and challenging.

In the end, it doesn't matter if they are desirable or undesirable, they are all pulling us away from our hearts - the ultimate destination.

Stay strong. Stay focused.

Keep practising and keep returning to your heart.

As a parent, working on my own emotional development isn't a luxury, it's essential.

If we want our children to develop emotional maturity, we first have to put in the work to cultivate an environment where they feel emotionally secure.

Children develop healthy responses to emotions by having the support of secure and stable caregivers (who don't freak out when children are emotional).

Understanding this, motivates me to get on my yoga mat each day - as the more centered I am, the more I am able to be there for my daughter when she has a big emotion.

Strengthen your nervous system - to build your resilience.

The magic of ashtanga yoga lies not in the perfection of the physical postures, but rather in the strengthening of your nervous system.

This is done through the coordination of the breath and the movement - otherwise known as the vinyasa. For the vinyasa to be effective (ie, to be able to strengthen your nervous system), it must be precise.

No, vinyasa does not mean jumping or stepping back between postures. Vinyasa means one movement, one breath (This means no extra breaths).

This is not as easy as what it first seems. It requires a lot of mental concentration and a lot of practice.

But with consistent effort and a lot of patience, that the nervous system does become stronger. And it is thanks to this strong nervous system that we are able to be with things (yoga postures, people, situations, different ideas) which we find uncomfortable for longer periods of time - just breathing.

Then, with time just breathing, we are able to find comfort, ease and peace with what used to cause us discomfort - this may be a physical yoga posture, an idea, a relationship.

Using the movement of the body to strengthen the nervous system - this is the magic of ashtanga yoga. Not merely the postures in and of themselves.

Thank you to all the wonderful students who joined me for the first week of Marseille, Summer by the Sea. I look forward to the next 3 weeks.
