04/01/2026
It’s now the 4th January and since New Year’s Day I’ve been trying to decide on a photo to post that encapsulates what I want from 2026. I kept coming back to this picture of my tent from my NYE bike and camp out in the Nightcap National Park.
Every year I try to simplify my life more and more. I don’t have a home but I do own several tents. A tent is as simple a home as you can have. It provides shelter and security from the elements, and I love the womb like feeling it provides. A place I can retreat to and find peace and tranquility.
A tent for me also means adventure. It is time fully immersed in nature, sleeping on the ground - as connected as we can be to Mother Earth. I’ve been in my tent a few times in 2025 but not as much as I would have liked.
For 2026 I want to continue my life of adventure, to not worry too much about where I will sleep and stay, to appreciate the simple things, like access to water, a roof over my head, and food in my belly. To remember that relationships with family and friends, as well as other beings of this precious earth, are precious and what make us human beings.
I’m also on a journey to create something; a business; a community of like minded people; a safe place for people to be themselves; a future for myself with some financial security; opportunities to spend more time connected to nature.
I can’t wait to see what 2026 will mean for me, if my vision will match the path I end up walking down. It’s very exciting, and life affirming.
Here’s to birth, death and rebirth, to a life of change, and embracing what the universe has in store for each and every being on this beautiful planet.
