Hi Everyone

How are you doing during this second lockdown? Hopefully you're making the most of the time we have, working if you can, enjoying some quiet time, catching up on some of your to-do-list. I know that's not the reality for everyone.

This second-wave feels a bit more serious and the reality is that it's already been a difficult year. Whilst we've been told the lockdown will last until the beginning of December, that might not be the case.

Perhaps uncertainty and worry has returned, or you're finding working from home and juggling the children stressful, perhaps the inability or lack of work is causing you stress. Perhaps you're being affected by a lack of routine and feel like you've lost you're mo-jo.

If you are struggling at the moment (for whatever reason) and would find talking to a professional therapist helpful, I'm offering my time for free every Thursday afternoon from 14.00 to 16.30 to whoever wants or needs it. I'll be providing online one-to-one appointments of 30 minutes each, to be allocated on a first-come, first-served basis. PM me for more information or to book an appointment.

How are you feeling? Honestly, how are you feeling? When did you last intentionally check in with your mental wellbeing?

We're all accustomed to talking openly about a recent injury, or an ache or pain we've been experiencing. If needs be, we're not averse to booking an appointment with a doctor to get ourselves checked out... Yet for many of us, talking seriously about our mental wellbeing is much more difficult. For whatever reason, perhaps it's shame, guilt, we don't want to appear weak or silly or to burden our friends or families. But mental wellbeing (and it looks different for all of us) is just as important a part of our overall health as our physical health so we shouldn't neglect it.

This year has been a particularly difficult one for our mental health. I think it's safe to say that many of us have definitely seen the impact on our overall mental wellbeing at some point.

In order to bring an awareness to mental health, and an appreciation that it's ok not to be ok, I'm opening my doors for free on Monday 12 October 2020 in the afternoon for anyone who wants to pop by for a cup of tea and a chat (on whatever level and for whatever reason).

Perhaps you're concerned about a loved one, relative or a friend; perhaps you simply feel stuck in a rut and just need to sound off; or you have a more serious problem and have been thinking about getting some professional help for a while (perhaps you have been unsure how to go about it); or you're just interested in having a chat about how to maintain positive mental health going into the colder months with all of the lingering uncertainty.

Whatever the reason, my doors will be open from 13.30 to 18.30 you can either pm me to book a specific time, or you can simply drop in and it won't cost you a penny!

I'll be setting up an event to follow this post (with full address and contact details), so please look out for it!

How are you doing in this time of solitude and uncertainty? What are you doing to cope? What's helping you to stay sane?

Are you having difficulty with fear-based or even anxious thoughts, incessant rumination, low mood or depression at this time? I would highly recommend reading this helpful, written by my supervisor Daniel Mirea, a senior CBT lecturer, writer and consultant psychotherapist.

If you (like me) have been finding this current Covid-19 and "lockdown" situation a little chaotic and uncertain, you may be feeling a little stressed, nervous or even anxious. Perhaps after one day into our current (French lockdown) you're already looking at the situation positively (in some way or another) and are just looking to use the time you have to down-tools, take some time for yourself, relax and unwind.

Trying to instill a positive mental attitude at this time is really important to both your emotional and mental well-being as well as your physical well being.

I'm thinking of holding at least two online sessions over the next couple of weeks, in either English or French (or both) to take you through some tools and skills which might be beneficial to keep you calm, relaxed and feeling positive throughout these difficult times. The sessions will be free of charge or for a donation.

Please PM me if you would be interested so I can get something set up.

How often do you sit at home and wish someone would ring you and suggest, well anything, rather than these 4 walls?

How many of you have had a night out planned, or arranged coffee with friends and suddenly "these 4 walls" seem the only safe haven because it's the only place you don't have to pretend you are ok, so you cancel. Or when you are invited out you tell them how terribly sorry you are, but you're already booked up that weekend, when you are actually just really busy holding it together in your safe box?

And so the first problem starts, all by itself. People stop asking you, and the isolation that at first wasn't true becomes your only truth.

Don't give up on your friends. Ring them, go round, even when they don't want you to. Because they really do they just don't know how to say it.

Its good to talk!

If you are struggling with something difficult and don't know where to start, help is always at hand. Feel free to contact me confidentially at kelly@montblancsalus.com or call me on 06 51 56 22 85.

So, we're moving into the second month of 2020, (time never stands still) and today us Brits officially leave the EU (what a depressing thought in itself)!

How are you doing at maintaining those New Years resolutions? The healthy food diet, the giving up smoking or drinking, the new exercise regime? Are there any new habits you started with in 2020, which were going so well, but have since fallen by the way-side, and which you'd like to get going again and properly maintain them this time? Or are you feeling low energy/low mod? Perhaps you simply feel "stuck in a rut"? The New Year came and went, so did January and you were hoping things would change, but they haven't?! Change, unfortunately doesn't happen just on it's own or by chance, it takes work, hard work! Sometimes we need some guidance, sometimes some accountability.

So, if you are looking to get back on track, need some guidance or accountability, or you have simply decided you need to make a change and don't know where to start, please get in touch! My approach is as individual as my clients (and let's face it we are all different)!

My name is Kelly, and I'm a UK qualified English (and French) speaking Cognitive Behavioural (Hypno) Therapist, living and working year-round in Chamonix. I work with individuals and couples a-like. If you want to find out more about what I do, or how I might be able to help, don't hesitate to get in touch (kelly@montblancsalus.com/+33 6 51 56 22 85).

It's that strange time of year when our mood can really take a dip. We've had our Christmas cheer and the excitement of welcoming in the New Year; perhaps we've passed the time away from work and surrounded with friends and family! Now it's back to earth with a bang. Reality once again kicks in. It's freezing outside, the days are short and dark and perhaps even the new habits you promised yourself you'd start to follow have fallen by the way side or the New Year's resolutions you promised everyone have already been broken.

"Blue" Monday as it has been dubbed is "officially" the most depressing day of the year (and is just about 11 days away). So if you're mood is low right think about checking in with yourself and see where you are at. Where do you want to be? Or if you're close to someone who you suspect is struggling right now, see if you can offer them some time and space to talk.

I'm an English (and French) speaking, UK qualified Cognitive Behavioural Hypnotherapist, living and working (full time) in Chamonix. I support individuals and couples within my work, so if you (or someone you know) are/is struggling and in need of some extra help with whatever issue(s) you're trying to deal with, please don't hesitate to contact me.

It goes without saying that most of us will be affected by a dip in mental health wellbeing at some point in our lives, whether it’s our own, that of a family member or loved one, or a close friend. It’s important to be strong, patient and kind and most of all, if you suspect someone you know has been affected by a mental health issue, reach out. You might not see they are hurting, or worse really ill (they might not recognise it either) but stay close, keep speaking and help them all you can!

Anxiety sucks 😢 being isolated and believing your friends don't care sucks even more 😢😢
How many of you have had a night out planned, or arranged coffee or a beer with friends and suddenly the 4 walls you inhabit seem the only safe haven because it's the only place you don't have to pretend you are ok, so you cancel.

Or when you are invited out you tell them how terribly sorry you are but you're already booked up that weekend, when you are actually just really busy holding it together in your safe box. And so the first problem starts, all by itself.

People stop asking you and the isolation that at first wasn't true becomes your only truth.
Please don't give up on your friends. Ring them, go round, even when they don't want you to. Because they really do they just don't know how to say it.

And in work every passing comment is a negative, you constantly do more to get over the feeling you’re not good enough. The exhaustion from not sleeping because you panic all night over what you cannot influence means you make mistakes, you live in a fog and it is a vicious circle.

I'm going to make a bet, without being pessimistic, that out of my Facebook friends that less than 5 will take the time to put this on their wall to help raise awareness of and for those who have mental health difficulties. You just have to copy it from my wall and paste it to yours.

Who will be my 5 ... I wonder?

Hi all!

Having fairly recently completed my first 150 hours of Yoga Teacher Training, I'm looking at putting on some outdoor yoga lessons at Gaillands. Essentially they will be tailored to build core strength, stamina and flexibility, coupled with an element of breath work and mindfulness. Suitable for anyone and everyone but I'm hoping to make them work for climbers and those involved in mountain sports.

Would anyone be interested?!

Looking at starting with 3 sessions, week commencing 27th August (Monday at 9.00am, Wednesday at 12.00pm and Friday at 18.00pm)!

Please get in touch for more info!

Regards

Kelly

Cordialement

Kelly
