👩🏫❌ No girl should be held back by something as natural as her period.
→ To address this challenge, Cerba Lancet Nigeria launched the “Pad Up a Girl” initiative eight years ago.
Designed to fill gaps in menstrual and reproductive health education, particularly among adolescent girls living in disadvantaged communities, the program aims to:
→ Break taboos around menstruation and sexual health to ensure dignity
→ Raise awareness among teenage girls and their teachers about menstrual hygiene
→ Distribute free menstrual hygiene products to enable teenage girls to continue their education without interruption.
→ Promote equal opportunities for young girls
💡 The results speak for themselves:
→ More than 6,000 packs of hygiene products distributed since 2017,
→ A measurable reduction in school absenteeism
→ Young girls who are more confident and better informed about their health
📅 Today, Cerba Lancet Nigeria plans to expand the Pad Up a Girl initiative to 10 additional schools by 2026, focusing on rural communities where the need is most urgent.
"At Cerba Healthcare, we believe that equitable health begins with access to education.
With “Pad Up a Girl,” we are pursuing a simple but essential mission:
No girl should be held back in school because of her period!" - Dr Olayemi Dawodu, Managing Director of Cerba Lancet Nigeria
