GREAT NEWS: this summer I will be teaching Yoga classes from Monday to Friday morning. On Tuesday and Friday they will be at Saint Girons Plage (Eurosol) , Monday and Thursday in Léon (forêt Paloma) and Wednesday in Saint Girons (Jaougotte).

ASHTANGA VINYASA YOGA:

L’Ashtanga est une forme dynamique et intense de Yoga Traditionnel qui a été développée par Sri.K.Pattabis Jois.

La particularité de l’Ashtanga réside dans l’enchaînement de différentes postures (asanas) d’une série fixe, dans un ordre précis et de manière fluide.
La chaleur interne procurée par cette pratique génère un processus de nettoyage général qui permet d’éliminer les toxines physiques, émotionnelles…
Plus qu’un simple renforcement et étirement du corps, il agit sur le mental qui est apaisé et clarifié.
Ce type de Yoga engage un travail musculaire profond qui fait ressentir son corps dans sa globalité. Le rythme de cette pratique amène à une « méditation en mouvement ».
Il développe, force, souplesse et état de concentration.

VOYAGE SONORE:

Nous avons tous des souvenirs stockés dans notre corps.

Join us for another yoga retreat season in Sri Lanka.
We will be teaching for 2 weeks only this year, from February 8th to 22nd.
As always, we will offer Ashtanga Yoga Mysore classes for all levels, afternoon workshops, yin yoga, acroyoga fun, meditation, pranyama, chanting and more.
We will be at the beautiful and enjoy the magnificent views, gorgeous hikes, swimming in the pool by the waterfall, and
beautiful delicious food.

This autumn we welcomed at our retreat in the Pyrenees. So much joy to be leading the retreat while also participating at the same time. I always consider myself a student, and I absolutely loved to learn from the many many years of practice that Kathy offers. Her teaching is so gentle and adapted to the life of a housholder. We are very happy to announce that she will join us for our Morocco event in April as well. It's starting to fill up, so save your spot sooner than later ;)

It's time again to travel. The practice is closed, and the yoga retreat season starts for us. I have always been a nomad, and although I feel home and comfortable in many places, I always prepare my travel pharmacy of essential oils.
Here is what I usually have with me wherever I go:
* lavender - great for bites, itches, burns, and sleep
* air - essential oil blend that helps with colds, coughs, breathing difficulties, and asthma
* zengest - good for digestive problems like diarrhea, constipation, nausea, bloating
*deep blue - excellent blend for muscle strains and pains
* on guard - immune blend to stay healthy
* peppermint - reliefs and cools if you have a headache and also good for colds.
* oregano - fungus/ candida and digestion
* melaleuca - great for acne and pimples, fungus, insect bites, and athletes foot

This weekend, I finally took the time to reconnect to the method that changed my life completely.
Since I was a teenager, mysticism, philosophy, and other religions were one of my favourite interests.
Shortly after high school graduation, I travelled to Sri Lanka and India in 2001 to learn how to meditate. It wasn't easy, and luckily, I found yoga on my way to prepare me for long hours of sitting when I was finally ready to face my first Vipassana course in 2010.
I had been trying out different kinds of meditation before, but I always had the impression there was something missing.
When I started Vipassana, it immediately clicked. This was the missing link that I was looking for, and it felt like coming back to myself. It frees me from all sorts of miseries that I create in my own mind. It gives me the power to change since I cannot change anybody else, but myself.

Backbending and drop backs have never been my favourite part of the asana practice.
Many years ago, I felt very uncomfortable going in this direction. Opening the front body was a real challenge and literally took my breath away.
Over the years, I learned how to breathe comfortably, be stable, and still.
It still takes all my concentration and confidence, although I know "I can do this!"
If you are working on your backbends, here are a few pointers to make the journey easier.
*Keep your legs strong and grounded. Focus on the internal rotation. Keep your feet parallel.
*Lengthen your spine all the way before even going backwards
*Open your chest/heart region before bringing the head back
* Keep your chin tucked at first, lengthening through the neck. Activate your neck muscles to create space and comfortably bend the head backwards.
*Only after full extension, bring your arms back.
*Finally, bend your knees.
*Practice with a wall first to feel comfortable in your breath. I usually extend 3 times against a wall before drop backs.
All these principles apply for any kind of backbend /front body stretch.
There should never be a feeling of compression or pain. Backbending strengthens your back muscles and helps you to keep your spine healthy. Make sure to get help from your teacher to be safe!

Autumn has arrived, and so has the common cold.
It often begins with an itchy throat, which then leads to more symptoms like a running nose, cough, low energy, etc.
The moment you feel an itchy throat, chew on some cloves to desinfect and kill the intruders.
Yes, the taste is incredibly strong, but so is the effect.
Don't chew on more than 4 cloves a day. Drink plenty of hot liquids like ginger lemon tea to help you stay fit and healthy.

Zengest is one of the most important essential oil blends that I have at home and in the practice. Not only does it help with diarrhea and constipation, but it is also great when you feel nauseated or bloated.
What's in this blend?
Anise oil, peppermint oil, ginger oil, caraway oil, coriander oil, tarragon oil, and fennel oil.
All these essential oils have been known for centuries to relieve digestive problems
I always take the whole range of products with me when I travel. The essential oil can be diluted and then put directly on your belly. I often also just take one drop directly under my tongue when I feel my stomach is upset.
The stick is already diluted and ready to apply directly on the skin. Rub it under the soles of your feet and directly on your belly.
I take 1 or 2 capusles if I am in real discomfort.
After a good night's sleep, I usually feel great again in the morning.

Listening to your needs and asking questions about your actual and individual situation often helps to identify the cause of the symptoms and the right approach to treat them.
This way, I can give you suggestions and advice for your everyday life and what changes could be implemented to be healthier and more fulfilled.
