Next up in this new chapter: our new (old) house 🏡⁣

It took us a while to find it—we saw more than 80 properties in total 😵‍💫! But we wanted it to feel right. And this one did.⁣

When we first walked into this house, something about it felt… familiar. Not in a “we’ve been here before” way, but in that quiet, certain sense of “Oh. We could belong here.”⁣

Long before it became our home, this house was brought back to life by a creative couple—one of them a former film-set designer from Denmark. They restored it with a bold, eclectic style and opened it as a B&B, welcoming guests from all over to rest and retreat. ⁣

And it was even once featured in Homes & Antiques magazine! The article showcases its books, art, and some wonderfully bold (if not downright kooky) design choices. We’re still untangling some of that kookiness 🥴…but more on that soon 😉⁣

For now, we’re slowly shaping it into our own version of home—renovating room by room, peeling back layers, and wafting our way through more than a little dust as we go (So. Much. Dust.)⁣

Still, we’re holding space for new stories while honouring the old ones. A place to gather, to move, to breathe—in this beautiful old home with history, heart…and space for what’s next.⁣

Swipe 👉 for a few glimpses of the house—past and present—including its moment in Homes & Antiques magazine 😄⁣

To be continued… ✨⁣

🌹 Bonjour and happy July! 🌹

The roses are blooming wildly in the garden just now — a little reminder of how things continue to grow and shift, even quietly. Life here in the French countryside moves slowly, and I’m grateful for the space it offers to pause and reflect.

It feels like a good moment to share a little note ☺️

If you’ve been here a while — thank you for staying with me as this space has gently shifted and grown. While the studio days are behind me, my love for sharing movement, brain health, strength, balance, rest, and self-kindness is stronger than ever.

Now, I’m lucky to call Southwest France home 🇫🇷 — and this page is where I share glimpses of that life, alongside my classes, workshops, and retreats for women in midlife.

Most of my classes and workshops are now offered online — so you can join me from the comfort of your own home, wherever you are. And when the time feels right for a deeper pause, my upcoming retreats here in France will offer a restful escape to reconnect and restore.

I’m so grateful you’re here. And I hope these posts continue to offer something nurturing and reassuring as you navigate your own seasons of change.

Wishing you a beautiful day!
Laura

Beautiful ideas for anyone who could use some self compassion today - or any day 🩵🩵🩵

Self-compassion is a powerful practice that can transform how we relate to ourselves. Here are six simple yet profound ways to bring more kindness and care into your life:

1️⃣ Supportive Touch: A gentle hand on your heart or a comforting self-hug can soothe and ground you in moments of distress.

2️⃣ Treat Yourself Like a Friend: Speak to yourself with the same kindness and understanding you’d offer a dear friend.

3️⃣ Ask yourself, 'What do I need?': Pause for a moment and check in. Do you need rest, reassurance, movement, or connection? Listening to yourself with curiosity and care is a powerful act of self-compassion.

4️⃣ Write a Self-Compassionate Letter: Put pen to paper and offer yourself words of comfort and encouragement, just as you would to someone you love.

5️⃣ Remember You Aren’t Alone: It’s important to acknowledge that we all face challenges—this imperfection is what makes us human.

6️⃣ Use a Warm Inner Tone of Voice: Try to adopt a gentle tone with yourself, especially when things go wrong. Practice patience, love, and understanding toward yourself.

With every step you take, every mile you pedal or every lap you swim, you’re enhancing your cognitive fitness. Yes. That’s right. Moving your body can help your brain work better.

This , get moving in a way that you enjoy!

“We know that physical exercise, and aerobic exercise in particular, is very beneficial for maintaining brain health, even in people who are at risk for developing dementia and Alzheimer’s disease,” says neuropsychologist Aaron Bonner-Jackson, PhD. “With regular exercise, you can make a major difference in terms of how your body is functioning and, as a result, how your brain is functioning.”

Physical activity may benefit your brain in a number of ways, each of which, in turn, helps your brain to retain memory and optimal functioning:

-Improving blood flow to your brain.
-Reducing inflammation.
-Lowering levels of stress hormones.

Exercise may provide physical benefits to your brain itself, too. Exercising can increase the thickness of your cerebral cortex and improve the integrity of your white matter (the nerve fibers that connect areas of the brain’s nerve-cell-rich gray matter). Exercise also promotes neuroplasticity, which is your brain’s ability to form new neural connections — in other words, your ability to learn throughout your life.

So, get moving and enjoy every second of it!
