Today it´s the anniversary of our Master Sando Kaisen. A deep gassho for all that he´s transmitting to us through every gesture, look, word...

S hlbokou úctou a vďačnosťou.

Gasshó.

Dnes si pripomíname odchod majstra Deshimarua.

Neprišiel učiť teórie.
Neprišiel robiť duchovno.
Prišiel ukázať niečo jednoduché:

sadni si a buď tu.

A rob to bez cieľa.
Bez zisku.
Bez toho, že z toho niečo chceš mať.

Mushotoku.

On by to asi nechal tak.

Skôr by sa spýtal:
Vieš byť chvíľu tu… bez toho, aby si z toho niečo chcel?

To stačí.

Rohatsu is a major festival in the Mahayana tradition. It commemorates the enlightenment of Siddhartha Gautama, who later became known as the Buddha. For this reason, it is also known as “Bodhi Day - the Day of Awakening”. It marks the culmination of Siddhartha’s six years of rigorous spiritual practice, which ultimately led him to understand the nature of suffering and the path to liberation from it.

Rohatsu (Bodhi Day) is of great significance to those who practice Zen Buddhism, as it serves as a source of inspiration for all practitioners on their own spiritual path and reminds everyone of their potential to achieve enlightenment through dedicated practice and meditation, regardless of their background or circumstances.

Rohatsu in Japanese means “the eighth day of the twelfth month”, and is therefore traditionally celebrated on December 8. However, in the past, this holiday was held on the 8th day of the 12th lunar month, which meant that it often fell in January. When the Japanese – along with most of the world – adopted the Gregorian calendar, Rohatsu became established as a holiday on December 8th and has been celebrated as such ever since.

If you see your nature, you don’t need to read sutras or invoke Buddhas. Erudition and knowledge are not only useless but also cloud your awareness. Doctrines are only for pointing to the mind.
Once you see your mind, why pay attention to doctrines?
To go from mortal to Buddha, you have to put an end to karma, nurture your awareness, and accept what life brings. If you are always getting angry, you will turn your nature against the Way. There is no advantage in deceiving yourself. Buddhas move freely through birth and death, appearing and disappearing at will. They can not be restrained by karma or overcome by devils. Once mortals see their nature, all attachments end. Awareness is not hidden. But you can only find it right now. Only now.

On Monday, September 22, we commemorate the passing of Master Eihei Dogen from this world. He was one of the great patriarchs and a key figure in the history of Chan and Zen. Thanks to Master Dogen, the Buddha's teachings were transferred from China to Japan, where they ingrained, successfully developed and persisted in an undistorted form until today. Let us remember Master Dogen with gratitude on this day.
