Poetically putting Fear into perspective

It is said that before entering the sea
a river trembles with fear.

She looks back at the path she has traveled,
from the peaks of the mountains,
the long winding road crossing forests and villages.

And in front of her,
she sees an ocean so vast,
that to enter
there seems nothing more than to disappear forever.

But there is no other way.
The river can not go back.

Nobody can go back.
To go back is impossible in existence.

The river needs to take the risk
of entering the ocean
because only then will fear disappear,
because that’s where the river will know
it’s not about disappearing into the ocean,
but of becoming the ocean.

I’ve been doing a bit of gardening over the last couple of days. The bed in the top picture is one of four I planted up. I don’t consider myself a gardener, but actually, I really enjoyed myself. It was sunny, and I felt like I was doing something purposeful.

You see those eight beds have been neglected for a good 6 years. I had too many other things to juggle and apart from weeding, I didn’t have the bandwidth to make something beautiful. (The original idea was an Italian style garden. I have the ornamental statues. Planted the wrong sort of evergreen. All the box hedging got eaten by caterpillars!)

But yesterday, I thought I’ll have another go. I wanted a flower filled English style cottage garden. But other English gardeners who live in France advised against some of the more delicate lands which thrive in the wetter, colder British climate. So I’ve planted up some pink flowering oleanders (more native to Spain) as a centrepiece to replace the battered old box hedging. (There comes a time when you have to admit defeat!)

I’ve thrown down some poppy seeds and cosmos and hoping the sunshine and showers will help Mother Nature work her magic!

Gosh, just realised I had a little manifesting win yesterday. I’ve come to Toulouse for only the second time in 16 years so don’t know it at all.

I had asked an expat Facebook group about places to hang out. I had made a picture in AI representing the vibe I was looking for.

Then I found this pub 10 minutes from my hotel, which was incredibly similar to my imagination. (Need to add that pubs like this are much more common in the UK. But in France, they are a unicorn 🦄) I’m very grateful to my manifestation !

Today, I got a real sense of my digital Nomad life. Even though I’m currently on holiday in SriLanka and this rooftop pool is my actual view, right now.

Earlier today, I was listening to a masterclass on AI given by one of my mentors. I realised that I couldn’t wait to get stuck into learning new tools and starting new projects when I get home to France.

The beauty of this post internet, AI world is that home can be anywhere. My future life, when it’s no longer tied to the school run, will revolve around tropical sunsets, beaches and working with AI on a laptop; anywhere in the world.
