Incentivizing the European market is a key issue to fight against supply chain shortages.

In this regard, the Critical Medicines Act will be an essential tool. Shortages may pose patients life at risk and we collectively should share the responsibility to stop this.

EPODIN, as a member of the Critical Medicine Alliance, is fully mobilized on this issue.

Day 1 at the Summit in Brussels, the opportunity to meet many relevant stakeholders involved in health at the European level and to highlight the actual and future health challenges in the European area.

Stella Kyriakides, commissioner for Health and Food Safety during the opening session talked about European citizens expectation, shortages and the absolute necessity to work on the question of equity.
This is precisely what we fight for within EPODIN: To give the opportunity for each patient to reduce the burden of Dysimmune Inflammatory Neuropathies

For people affected by Guillain-Barré Syndrome, immunoglobulins are a life-saving therapy that can stop the progression of paralysis before it becomes potentially fatal.

For individuals with chronic dysimmune neuropathies (such as CIDP, MMN, LSS, MFS, and others), immunoglobulins are the first-choice treatment to ensure a good quality of life.

Without plasma donors, people with dysimmune inflammatory neuropathies - - wouldn't be able to receive the necessary care.
That's why we have participated in the International Plasma Awareness Week to underline the need of increasing knowledge about plasma donation worldwide.

Now that the campaign has come to an end, our commitment remains strong. We will continue to advocate for plasma donations, ensuring that everyone has access to the treatment they need.
And, in the meanwhile, as always: Thanks to donors

Immunoglobulins demand has been constantly increasing for nearly a decade and it is considered «the main cause of the worldwide in both private and public sectors».

According to a paper published in October 2023, «there is an estimated 38% deficit of plasma in Europe, which is equivalent to 4–8 million litres of blood plasma. This implies that around 2–4 million extra are needed from donors who donate their whole blood at least twice a year or their plasma five times per year» (Vox Sanguinis, The International Journal of Transfusion Medicine https://onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/10.1111/vox.13540 )

Today is the second day of the the campaign held by Plasma Protein Therapeutics Association (PPTA) to raise global awareness about source plasma collection, recognize the valued contributions of donors, and increase understanding about plasma protein therapies and rare diseases.
