Did you know that temperature and humidity directly affect cattle feed intake?

When conditions move outside the comfort zone, animals adjust their feeding behavior in ways that can seriously impact productivity:

- Heat and humidity can reduce feed intake by up to 30%
- Cold stress increases energy demand and feed consumption
- Both extremes compromise welfare, health and productivity

The July 2025 edition of our Milk Market Outlook is here!

Global milk collection is back to growth, up +1.7% year-on-year in June. The US recorded its fastest expansion since 2020 with record cheese exports, while New Zealand posted its strongest increase since 2017. In contrast, EU milk collection stagnated, and in China, demand remains subdued, adding uncertainty to the global dairy market.

Did you know that music doesn’t only benefit people, but also dairy cows?

Scientific studies have shown that soft melodies, such as classical music, can:

- Reduce stress in cows
- Stimulate oxytocin release (essential for milk production)
- Improve behavior and overall welfare
- Enrich environment

But not all tunes are suitable—the key is slow-paced, harmonious music played at a moderate volume.

💧 On cattle farms, water is much more than hydration — it directly affects health, welfare, and productivity.

In high-temperature environments, animals may require more than 80 liters of water per day to maintain optimal feed intake, hydration and growth.

In our latest blog, Dr. Ana Sofia Santos (FeedInov CoLAB) explains why water is crucial in both pasture and feedlot systems, how to audit its quality and access, and the key warning signs every practitioner should watch for.

In Europe, prices are unusually high for the season, driven by tight supply and growing demand from North Africa. In Brazil, prices are slowly increasing and exports keep growing thanks to strong international appetite. Meanwhile, China’s recovery is slow, and U.S. prices continue to climb amid limited cattle availability.

Infertility in your dairy herd? It might be Q fever.

Often overlooked in cattle, Q fever isn’t just about abortion outbreaks. A new international study reveals that Coxiella burnetii may be silently affecting fertility causing premature delivery, stillbirth, metritis or retained placenta.
With a 42% prevalence across tested dairy herds, it is a potential hidden threat to your farm’s reproductive performance.
