🎊🎊 New course announcement 🎊🎊

We're very excited to be announcing a new course for 2025 🥳. Adding on to our current courses (Med-Franc Essentials and Let's Speak French), this course is being introduced to help our francophone and anglophone colleagues learn medical English and French in a language exchange style session

✨✨ L'échange linguistique médical ✨✨

Ce nouveau programme, ciblé aux professionnels de santé francophones et anglophones, permettra un échange de connaissances médicales et linguistiques entre collègues

🥐🥐 Let's Speak French course start date 🥐🥐

Now that our Let's Speak French course for 2024-2025 has come to a close, we are excited to introduce it's revival for a further year in 2025-2026 🎊

Starting in May (this Wednesday!!) this twelve month course provides the opportunity to have informal discussions and conversations around a variety of subjects surrounding by colleagues, peers and friends 😊

Aimed primarily at improving your French speaking skills and confidence, we will also introduce cover letter and CV writing workshops, as well as cultural sessions discussing French literature 📖 and cinematography 📹

Plus, it only costs £5!!! 😲

Packed with exciting talks 👩‍🏫 social events 🥳 fantastic food 🥐 and networking opportunities 🤵 this is a conference not to miss!

Always held in an area of cultural and gastronomic interest, the conference this year is being organised by the British AFMS, after a wonderful conference last year in Orléans 🇫🇷 by the AMFB (why not go check out the 📸 in one of our previous insatgram posts?)

Taking place in Manchester, this year's conference introduces a new day rate 👏 making the event more accessible to students and foundation doctors. We are also inviting our attendees to submit poster presentation submissions, winning submissions will be displayed on the Friday of this International Conference - the same day as the day rate offer! 😊

Our Méd-Franç Essentials course 2025-2026 is now open for sign ups! 🇫🇷🥖🥐📯🇲🇫

Spanning over twelve months from May to April, each session will cover basic OSCE skills and speciality based vocabulary, all learnt through real life case discussions 👩‍🏫

This course is perfect for those who are planning a medical elective or internship in a Francophone country and is open to all levels of French 😊

At only £40 (£30 for students!) this course also provides a vocabulary booklet, question and answer scenarios to practice at home, as well as 100 flashcards for every monthly session 🥳

Our delegates in the city of Lille 🇫🇷

A huge thank-you to everyone who attended this year's in person medical French course.

Lille has always been an incredible course to attend, and this weekend was no exception. We welcomed our friendly delegates beneath glorious sunny skies 🌞, in a city filled with atmosphere 🎊, music 🎶 and the feeling of summer ⛱

It was a pleasure to spend this weekend with so many incredible people, and we can only hope that you enjoyed it just as much as we did 🥰

The annual In Person French Medical Course is back - and tickets are still availabile! 🎉

The course is ideal for those of you planning an elective, a career change, or just want to meet Francophiles alike and spend some time in the historic town of Lille.

Held over 3 days, our lovely tutors will teach you how to improve your Medical French in small groups, covering a whole range of medical topics. You will have lots of opportunities to practice speaking French in the groups, as well as amongst your coursemates - especially on Sunday which is our "no English day". New Year, New AFMS Student/Junior Doctor Committee! 🎉

We are delighted to welcome Aimee, Anna Chiara and Cían to the AFMS family, to whom the "flambeau a été passé" in Inverness during our Committee meeting earlier this month.

Aimee Lawton is a final year medical student at Edinburgh University, and will be taking on the Student Representative role.

Anna Chiara Corriero is a final year medical student at Anglia Ruskin University, and will be leading Social Media for AFMS Students.

Last but definitely not least, Cían Finnegan is an Intern in Galway, Ireland, and will be our new Junior Doctor Representative.

Clara Farque is staying within the AFMS fold, and will be working on developing French Medical Resources (videos, MCQs etc) to be featured on the website.

We can’t believe it’s already been a week since the Medical French Course in Lille! 🇫🇷🇬🇧

We had the best time meeting and speaking French with all the delegates from across the world.
