Today is World AIDS Day 🎗
🔹Acquired Immunodeficiency Syndrome (AIDS) is a chronic, potentially life-threatening condition caused by the Human Immunodeficiency Virus (HIV). HIV weakens the immune system, making individuals more susceptible to infections and diseases.
🔹It primarily spreads through unprotected s*xual contact, sharing of contaminated needles, and from mother to child during childbirth or breastfeeding.
🔹Despite progress in treatment and prevention, there is no cure for HIV/AIDS. Awareness, education, and access to healthcare are crucial in combating the global impact of this pandemic.
🔹Preventing AIDS involves practicing safe s*x with consistent condom use, limiting s*xual partners, and knowing and discussing HIV status. Regular testing, especially for those engaging in high-risk behaviors, is crucial. Avoiding needle sharing, considering pre-exposure prophylaxis (PrEP), and promoting antiretroviral therapy (ART) for those with HIV are additional preventive measures.
🔹Preventing mother-to-child transmission, avoiding breastfeeding if alternatives exist, and combating HIV-related stigma contribute to a comprehensive prevention approach.
"Standing strong, raising awareness. Together, we can end HIV/AIDS stigma.
