After working thirteen years in corporate in Turkey, we decided to leave our home country for a better education for our kids, since we think travel is one of the best educations. We lived in Beirut for four years and in the beautiful cedar mountains of Lebanon, I attended to a silent retreat for a deep dive into myself. Since from the beginning, my mind was always a great maneuverer; and frankly
speaking, he helped me a lot through the journey; but leaving him too alone there in the mountains, without nothing to read nor no one to speak, it helped me to realize that I also do have a body and a soul, and at that first time that they saw my mind such vulnerable, they did not maneuver to take the lead; but they propose a union: a union of mind, body and soul. I practiced it intense and deeply in our next stop; South Africa, and there I met with a wise Zulu Lady who introduced me with the Ubuntu philosophy; “I am, because we are” she said; it was our compassion and kindness to others that was defining us, so that yoga union of mind, body and soul was missing a big piece: And that was “You”. Without sharing a practice together that union is not ultimate. And this is how the story of Ubuntu Yoga Union has started.
