The Matrimonial Order: An Exhaustive Guide
𝐓𝐎 𝐖𝐈𝐕𝐄𝐒:
22 Wives, submit yourselves unto your own husbands, 𝐚𝐬 𝐮𝐧𝐭𝐨 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐋𝐨𝐫𝐝. 23 For the husband is the head of the wife, even as Christ is the head of the church: and he is the saviour of the body. 24 Therefore as the church is subject unto Christ, so let the wives be to their own husbands in every thing. Eph 5:22-24
Everything in the above text is pretty defined:
The adverb “as” means, “to the same degree”, “equally “ or “every bit”, which qualifies the “submission” clause. Hence, this submission clause is not open to interpretation.
“AS” is used across the three verses above to effectively qualify the “submission” clause:
Verse 22 Explanation:
Wives submit yourself unto your own husbands AS UNTO THE LORD.
So if you’re not submitted to the Lord, that verse isn’t for you!!! If you’re not submitted to the Lord, how will you know how to submit to your husband?!!
AS UNTO THE LORD… means your husband is divine authority over you and that’s how you’re supposed to both regard/reckon and submit to him, to the same degree.
Verse 23 Explanation: Definition of the Position of the Husband:
The husband IS THE HEAD OF THE WIVE,
(The above is followed by an “intensive” EVEN, to showcase “the full extend” of the disposition of authority of the husband.)
EVEN AS CHRIST IS THE HEAD OF THE CHURCH: (the husband is head of the wive to the same degree, indicating that marriage as the world’s leading institution is not for the shallow minded, or the unruly or the immature!!)
Verse 24 provides a final qualifier to the submission of wives to their husbands: “Therefore as the church is subject unto Christ, so let the wives be to their own husbands IN EVERYTHING.”
𝐓𝐎 𝐇𝐔𝐒𝐁𝐀𝐍𝐃𝐒:
25 Husbands, love your wives, even as Christ also loved the church, and gave himself for it; 26 That he might sanctify and cleanse it with the washing of water by the word, 27 That he might present it to himself a glorious church, not having spot, or wrinkle, or any such thing; but that it should be holy and without blemish. 28 So ought men to love their wives as their own bodies. He that loveth his wife loveth himself. 29 For no man ever yet hated his own flesh; but nourisheth and cherisheth it, even as the Lord the church: Eph 5:25-29
Verse 25 qualifies the love husbands should espouse for their wives: husbands should emulate the example of Christ: to commit themselves totally to their wives (verse 28), to be an imitator of Christ in this regard: to nourish and cherish their wives, even as the Lord the church (verse 29).
This is the divine matrimonial rule!
For unbridgeable matrimony, strong families, better societies and the impregnable world.
