Doing a grocery haul in Morzine? 🛒🇫🇷

If you are living the gluten free lifestyle, you know that the first thing you do when you arrive on vacation is find the nearest supermarket with a solid selection. I headed to Sherpa Supermarket to see what gluten free options they had, and I was actually impressed with the variety.

Here is what I found for your next easy gluten free lunch or dinner:

- Pantry Staples: They stock Barilla and Casino brand gluten free pasta, which are great reliable options.
- Bread & Bakery: Plenty of Schär bread available, the gold standard for celiac disease safe options.
- Snacks & Treats: I found a great range of Gerblé small cakes and cereal bars, plus plenty of rice crackers for a quick snack.
- Crisps: They have Brets (my favorite!) and Pipers crisps, which are usually a safe bet for gluten free people.
- Cooking Essentials: Indian sauces from the brand Pasco, making it so easy to cook a safe meal at your accommodation.

If you’re staying in Morzine, this Sherpa location is super convenient and well-stocked for anyone with a gluten sensitivity. It makes self-catering so much easier so you can spend more time enjoying the mountains.

If you are living with a gluten sensitivity or celiac disease, navigating life in Lebanon can sometimes feel like a challenge. However, after exploring the city, I’ve found some of the best celiac safe restaurants that don't compromise on flavor or tradition. Whether you are solo traveling, exploring with friends, or a solo travel women adventurer, these spots are total game-changers for your gluten free journey.

Here are my top 5 picks for no gluten finds in Beirut:

1. Glow Paradise
A total gem for healthy vegan gluten free options. Their "food as medicine" philosophy makes everything feel nutrient-rich and delicious. I highly recommend the Chicken Avo Wrap on a dedicated gluten free wrap and the Chocolate Midnight Cake for a guilt-free treat.
📍 Monot, Beirut Lebanon (Takeout Location)
🕒 Monday to Saturday: 08:00 to 23:45

2. SALATA
The perfect celiac disease restaurant for anyone craving real food. They source everything from local farmers to create gourmet power bowls. My favorites were the Smoky Chicken Bowl and the pesto sweet potatoes. It’s a must-visit for high-quality superfoods and healthy meal inspo.
📍 Gouraud Street, Gemmayze, Beirut, Lebanon
🕒 Everyday from 08:00 to 23:30

3. Elevate
This is quite possibly the safest spot for gluten free people in Beirut. Everything is 100% gluten-free, dairy-free, and refined sugar-free. You can finally enjoy authentic flavors like vegan spinach fatayer, cheese manoushe, and even a full Margherita pizza without any worry.
📍 Dar Al-Handasah, Beirut, Lebanon
🕒 Monday to Saturday: 09:00 to 20:00

4.
Proof that having celiac disease doesn't mean skipping the birthday cake! This 100% no gluten bakery makes an incredible Victoria Sponge that is light, airy, and totally delicious. From artisanal bread to cookies, it’s a paradise for the gluten free lifestyle.
📍 Monot Street, Macaron Building, Beirut, Lebanon
🕒 Monday to Saturday: 09:00 to 18:00

5. Les Chats du Quartier
📍 Said Akel street, El Saifi, Beyrouth, Lebanon
🕒 Every day from 12:00 PM to 00:30 AM

Gluten-free travel update: My experience flying with Middle East Airlines (MEA). ✈️🇱🇧

If you are living with a gluten sensitivity or celiac disease, you know that flying can be a bit of a gamble. On my flight from Geneva to Beirut, I realized there was no option to book a special meal online, which meant I actually ended up having nothing to eat for the entire trip.

Lesson learned ! As soon as I arrived in Lebanon, I called the airline directly to request a gluten-free meal for my return flight to Geneva, and this is what they served for breakfast.

The tray included:
- A main dish of fluffy omelet with sautéed mushrooms, a grilled tomato, and a side of potatoes.
- Fresh labneh with cucumber, tomato, and olives.
- A fruit salad with kiwi, grapefruit, and melon.
- Gluten-free bread (sealed to prevent cross-contamination).
- A cup of Rim mineral water.

It was such a relief to finally have a safe meal onboard! If you’re planning a Lebanon vacation or traveling with MEA, my biggest tip for gluten free people is to skip the website and call the airline at least 24-48 hours before your flight to ensure your meal is confirmed.
