Venus and Uranus join at the end of Ta**us, their last rendezvous in the sign for 80 years. With Uranus also poised to leave Ta**us, a seven-year chapter comes to an end, a chapter that has shaken our values and reinvented our relationship with the material world.

The first four signs of the zodiac deal with life at its most basic and rudimentary level. In Aries, for example, we explore our individuality and agency. In Ta**us, we explore our basic material needs and securities — a roof over our heads, food in the kitchen, money in the bank, our feelings of safety and stability. Of course, there is physical pleasure to be found in Ta**us, but we must first tend to the basics.

When Venus is in Ta**us, we have an opportunity to strengthen our relationship with the energy of Ta**us. Perhaps we take time to survey the resources we have available to us. Or we make investments that shore up our material lives. We're more aware of our senses as well as sensuality.

That said, over the last seven years, there's been a planet residing in Ta**us that runs counter to Ta**us's need for stability and security. Uranus first entered Ta**us in May 2018, retrograding out in November 2018, and returning again in March 2019 where it has remained since.

Ta**us is a fixed sign, meaning it's a sign that doesn't want change because change is at odds with the sign's instinct to protect life. Uranus, on the other hand, is an evolutionary planet, which is trying to get Ta**us to grow and evolve by any means possible. So, today's Venus-Uranus conjunction at 29 Ta**us is a last hurrah, a coda on a chapter of our lives that seen a lot change.

On Saturday, April 25, Uranus finally leaves Ta**us, not to return in our lifetime, and we step into a new seven-year cycle with Uranus in Gemini. (Read Uranus in Gemini: Sign by Sign.)

Most of us

spend the majority

of our lives

lost in thought:

While washing our hands,

we think

about the next meeting.

While making coffee,

we fret

over a past mistake.

While waiting

for the elevator,

we scroll through our phones

to fill the void.

We are rarely

truly there.

The mind

is always elsewhere,

and reality

is seen merely

as an obstacle

to be overcome

to reach

the “next point.”

Consequently,

moments of waiting

are often viewed

as annoying

or meaningless.

Eckhart Tolle

proposes

a different approach:

These moments

of waiting

or manual tasks

are, in fact,

wonderful opportunities

to disconnect

from the stream

of compulsive thinking.

It is a state

of intense alertness.

You feel

the cool water

on your hands,

the rich aroma

of the coffee,

or the sensation

of your feet

firmly

on the ground.

If you can be present

for 10 seconds

while waiting

for the elevator,

30 seconds

while washing your hands,

or 1 minute

while brewing coffee...

you are gradually

building

a new habit.

These brief

“moments of presence”

accumulate,

slowly replacing

a state of anxiety

with a lasting

inner peace.
