It’s wild that people still think vegetarianism is healthy

Repost

MRI of the brain showed marked atrophy, especially in the frontal and temporal lobes. After 5 months of daily treatment with B12, there was regression of atrophy and neurological signs were normal. Vitamin B12 is critical and can’t be found in a plant based diet unless foods are fortified with it.

Maybe Mary Poppins was right as relates to medicine, but as far as infant nutrition, adding the spoonful of sugar is probably not going to turn out well.

Methylation is a key biochemical process that is essential for the proper function of almost all of your body’s systems.

It occurs billions of times every second; it helps repair your DNA on a daily basis; it controls homocysteine (an unhealthy compound that can damage blood vessels); it helps recycle molecules needed for detoxification; and it helps maintain mood and keep inflammation in check.

An enzyme, called methylenetetrahydrofolate reductase (MTHFR), carries out these methylation processes. When something goes wrong with that enzyme, which can happen in many different ways, health issues ensue.

To keep methylation running smoothly you need optimal levels of B vitamins. Folate, B2, B6, B12, and betaine are all needed in adequate amounts for methylation to work as it should.

Without them, methylation breaks down and the results can be catastrophic. In these cases, we see more birth defects like congenital heart disease and spina bifida, more cases of Down’s syndrome, and more miscarriage.

To avoid all of these problems, the key is to maximize methylation. That means testing to find out how well your methylation is working, avoiding the things that cause your methylation to break down, and including the things that support proper methylation.

First, let’s start with the things that negatively impact your body’s natural ability to methylate: genetics, smoking, nutrient malabsorption, medications, toxicity, and a poor diet—especially if it’s low in leafy greens, fruits, and high-quality meats and eggs because their naturally occurring B vitamins are essential for proper methylation.

The good news is there are lots of simple, natural interventions you can take to support your methylation process. One of the best ways is by taking an already methylated B complex supplement. You can work with an open-minded physician or Functional Medicine doctor if this is something you want to explore.

🏵️💀 Día de Los Mu***os! 💀🏵️
Here is a keto-friendly recipe of the traditional Pan de Mu**to (bread of the dead). Enjoy!

𝗜𝗡𝗚𝗥𝗘𝗗𝗜𝗘𝗡𝗧𝗦
1 cup of almond flour
2 eggs
2 tablespoons of butter
2 tablespoons of cream cheese
2 teaspoons of baking powder
1 tablespoon of Monk Fruit sweetener
Orange zest
1 pinch of salt
To decorate:
𝗗𝗲𝗰𝗼𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻
1 tablespoon of butter to glaze
Powdered Monk Fruit sweetener or sifted Monk Fruit sweetener.

𝗜𝗡𝗦𝗧𝗥𝗨𝗖𝗧𝗜𝗢𝗡𝗦
Sift all the ingredients twice. Add the cream cheese and butter. Mix all the ingredients to form a compact dough. Divide the dough into 5 parts. Coat your hands with oil to prevent the dough from sticking and form three balls with three previously separated parts. Place them on a greased baking sheet or lined with parchment paper and flatten them a little.
Divide the remaining dough into 15 parts. Use 3 of them to make small balls that will go in the center of each bread, and 12 to make the bones that go on the Pan de Mu**to, arranging 4 on each bread to form an X.
Preheat the oven to 320 ºF/ 160ºC.
Bake the bread for 20 to 25 minutes, checking that it does not burn but making sure it is not raw either. Remove them from the oven and let them cool. Glaze each bread with melted butter. Sprinkle with Monk Fruit powdered sugar or sifted sweetener.

Serum triglyceride levels and related factors as prognostic indicators in COVID-19 patients: A retrospective study:

The role of triglycerides (TG) in coronavirus disease (COVID-19) is controversial. This study explored the relationship between TG levels and prognosis in COVID-19 patients and investigated the factors that affect TG.

It finds that COVID-19 patients with above normal TG levels have a higher mortality rate. The TG level in COVID-19 patients is correlated to serum ferritin and IL-10 levels, which reflects the activation of macrophages.
