We provide help for Caregivers of People with Alzheimer's Disease and Related Illnesses! A 501 (c)(3) Non-Profit Agency Association Loi 1901; à but non lucratif ; publiée au JOURNAL OFFICIEL en décembre 2007 ! Our Mission :

To help elders at-risk of institutionalization, especially those with Alzheimer's/Dementia and related disorders, to remain in their homes and in the community. An emphasis is placed on assistance to caregivers to delay institutionalization of frail elders through, adult day care, respite, education and support ! SKYPE/WEBCAM participants are strongly encouraged to continue doing so ! NB : Please feel free to email me directly if you need practical advice in finding respite ! Be safe ! 😍

Derrière le développement du lien entre le malade, ses proches, et l'ensemble de la société, il y a ce souhait de passer à la vitesse supérieure dans la prise en charge sociale de la maladie d'Alzheimer, une fois que le diagnostic est fait, il est souvent difficile de garder les familles, de les contenir; le groupe de parole peut-être un moyen de lier ces familles dans la souffrance …

GRATITUDE !

Gratitude is the pill, psychotropic-medicine, everyone should be prescribed ! It has no irreversible harmful side effects ! Can gratitude unlock the fullness of life ? Can gratitude turn what we have into enough ? Can gratitude turn denial into acceptance ? Chaos to order ? Confusion to clarity ? Can gratitude turn a simple meal into a feast ? A humble house into a home ? Can gratitude turn a stranger into a friend ? I believe that gratitude makes sense of our past, notwithstanding all ! Gratitude can bring peace for today and create a vision for tomorrow !
Gratitude, a pill that's likely to improve your energy and resiliency, enhance your immunity, lift up your mood, offer you greater feelings of joy and improve compassion toward yourself and others !
Being grateful doesn't really mean we deny what's wrong or difficult and unfair in our life !

HOLIDAYS CAN BE BITTERSWEET...

Holidays can be bittersweet for families affected by Alzheimer's. Try these simple tips to make the holidays less disruptive and more pleasant for everyone.

Make preparation together : if you bake, your loved one may be able to participate by : measuring flour, stirring batter...
Tone down your decorations...
Host quiet, slow-paced gatherings...

BE PRACTICAL AWAY FROM HOME !

Celebrate in the most familiar setting...
Minimize visitor traffic...
Schedule visits at your loved one's best time of day...

CARE FOR YOURSELF !

Consider your needs, as well as those of your loved one; to manage your expectations : pick and choose...
Simplify : bake fewer cookies, buy fewer gifts, ask others to provide portions of holiday meals...
Delegate : remember family members and friends who've offered their assistance...

TRUST YOUR INSTINCTS !

As a caregiver, you know your loved one's ability best. You also know what's most likely to agitate or upset your loved one. Resist pressure to celebrate the way others may expect you to ! Remember, you can't control the progress of Alzheimer's or protect your loved one from all distress ! However, by planning and setting firm boundaries, you can avoid needless holiday stress and ENJOY THE WARMTH OF THE SEASON !
