🚀 Innovation in public health is taking a bold, unexpected turn.

A new “game-changing” initiative from the Advocacy, Communications and Social Mobilization team at The Union is using a virtual TB-themed escape room to influence health-seeking behaviour, and early results are incredibly promising.

🎮 Instead of traditional awareness campaigns, this interactive experience puts players in real-life scenarios to help them understand barriers to seeking care.

📊 Early insights from beta testing show:
• A 63% increase in recognising cough trivialisation as a serious barrier
• Stronger preference for supportive, hopeful messaging over fear-based approaches
• Greater appreciation for the role of healthcare counselling and community support

The Union believes interactive tools such as this can play a valuable role in addressing persistent gaps in TB awareness and care-seeking, particularly when grounded in behavioural science and user-centred design.

We look forward to continuing to refine this approach and to working with partners to scale effective innovations that support earlier diagnosis and improved access to care.
