Pregnant in France and wondering which apps can actually help? 🇫🇷
During my pregnancies in France, there were a few apps and resources I used all the time.
Some helped me understand how my baby was growing,
some helped me navigate the French health system,
and others helped me save money or connect with other mums.

In this carousel I’m sharing some of my French pregnancy essentials, including:
✨ apps to follow your pregnancy

✨ apps to check food safety during pregnancy

✨ health apps used in France (very useful for expats!)

✨ second-hand and cashback apps

✨ where French mums buy affordable baby items

✨ apps to connect with other mums

✨ relaxation & meditation tools

When you’re pregnant in a new country, having the right tools makes a huge difference.

Save this post so you can come back to it later 🤍
And feel free to share it with a pregnant mum in France who might find it helpful.

Being pregnant in a foreign country can feel incredibly lonely. 😞🇫🇷

When Charmaine got pregnant in France,

her pregnancy was medically well followed.

But emotionally?
It felt challenging.
New country.
Language barrier
No family nearby.

Even though the French maternity system is excellent, many expat mums tell me the same thing:
they feel supported medically but emotionally alone.

That’s exactly why I created The French Bump.

A program designed to help expat mums navigate pregnancy in France with:
✨ clarity about the French system
✨ confidence for birth
✨ emotional support along the journey

Through 3 powerful steps:

CLARITY
Understand how pregnancy and birth work in France.

PREPARATION
Build confidence for labour and postpartum.

TRANSFORMATION
Step into motherhood feeling calm, prepared and empowered.

A little about me
I’m French and I gave birth twice in France with a non-French speaking husband, so I know firsthand how confusing the system can feel when you’re not from here.
I’m also a trained doula, supporting women emotionally through pregnancy, birth and postpartum.
And I use coaching tools to help you reconnect with your inner resources, build confidence and navigate this life transition.

If you're pregnant in France and want support along the way 🤍

Postpartum in France can feel confusing even when the medical care is “good.”

You’re healing.
You’re exhausted.
You’re learning your baby.

And you’re doing it all…

far from your family,
your culture,
your usual support system.

If this season feels harder than you expected
it’s not because you’re failing 🤍

It’s because postpartum was never meant to be done alone.

In France, the system takes care of the medical side.
But who takes care of you?

Sometimes relief doesn’t require a huge change.
Just a small shift:

→ simplify
→ slow down
→ lower the pressure
→ focus only on what truly matters right now

That’s exactly why I created a 100% free postpartum guide.

A gentle, realistic roadmap for expat mums in France
so you can:

• understand what’s normal (and what’s not)
• know where to find real support
• reduce the mental load
• feel calmer and less lost

Step by step.

Because you deserve clarity.
And softness.
And support.

💌 Comment “Postpartum” and I’ll send The "New mama In France StarterPack" to you.

I’m Johanna a French native in an international marriage (with a South African) and mama of two girls.

I’m a trained doula & parenting coach supporting expat and immigrant mums in France.

I speak French and English, and I deeply understand the invisible gap that language, culture, and the French medical system can create during pregnancy and postpartum.

My role isn’t just information.
It’s presence.
It’s reassurance.
It’s helping you navigate this life-changing season with more confidence and less loneliness.

“Why is everyone charging 40–60€/hour? Are we being taken advantage of?”

If you’ve ever thought this as an expat mum in France… you’re not crazy.

That frustration is real.
And yes sometimes people do overcharge.

But most of the time?

It’s not about you being foreign.
It’s about how the French childcare system is built.

France doesn’t really do:
• random daytime babysitting
• “just a few hours here and there”
• on-demand flexible childcare

It does:
• structured contracts
• regulated systems
• long-term arrangements

Which leaves a very real gap especially for:
✨ stay-at-home mums
✨ freelancers
✨ women without family nearby
✨ newly arrived expats - immigrants

And that gap can feel isolating.

That’s exactly why community matters so much.

You don’t have to navigate this alone.
You don’t have to feel naive for not understanding the system.
And you’re definitely not “bad at adulting.”

If this resonates with you, tell me:
Have you struggled to find flexible childcare in France?

During pregnancy, you answer questions all the time.
Medical questions.

Administrative questions.

Logistical questions.
But very few people ask you:
How do you react under stress?

What makes you feel safe when you’re in pain?

Who speaks for you if you’re overwhelmed?

What will emotional support look like after birth?
These questions change everything.
Because birth isn’t only physical.

It’s hormonal. Emotional. Nervous-system driven.
And if your answer to some of them is

“I don’t know”
That’s not a failure.
It just means no one gave you the space to think about it.
That space matters.
Not to replace medical care.

Not to make decisions for you.

But to help you understand yourself so your choices feel aligned and grounded.
💛 This is the space I create with the women I support.
We talk.

We reflect.

We prepare your birth plan in a way that fits you.

We explore your stress patterns, your needs, your boundaries, your support system.
So that whatever happens, you feel informed, confident, and emotionally prepared.
