Absolutely fantastic news coming from East Durham Veterans Trust today.
After building up an amazing Armed Forces footprint, contacts and support base in Dawdon, they are expanding to be able to provide even more support.
The demand for their services is immense, so this is fantastic for the charity, the area, and of course the Armed Forces in the area.
All the funds from the Priory 100km run by Nathan, and Marc, are going to this charity. However, the charity have agreed that if a civilian would like support, as per Nathan's, and Marc's, request, the money shall be available.
They boys know that those civilian family, and friends, that support our Armed Forces community can't always get early intervention as easily, or funded, like our cohort can. So, they are determined those funds are going to be there for them to help them in their support role.
Watch this space too......EDVT have even more amazing news coming. 🪖💂
‼️IMPORTANT NOTICE EXCITING NEWS‼️
Over the past few months East Durham Veterans Trust have been working closely with Julie and Kevin from the Murton Parish council with regards to the possibility of EDVT taking over the management and running of the Glebe centre in Murton.
We have spoken regarding the running of the centre and what EDVT could bring to the centre. After a period of due diligence to ensure this was the right steps forward for everyone involved EDVT CEO was invited to Murton Parish council meeting on Monday to purpose what EDVT would be offering.
We are delighted to say the vote from the parish council was overwhelmingly in favour of EDVT taking over the centre with 9 in favour 2 against and 1 abstained. We want to say a huge thank you to the parish council for inviting us to present, for listening to us and also giving us this amazing opportunity.
A special thankyou to Julie and Kevin from the parish council for the weeks of meetings to help us get to this point.
CEO Andrew Cammiss has said “this is a fantastic opportunity for East Durham Veterans Trust to continue to grow as well as taking on an exciting venture that will enhance the support we offer the veteran community but also make this the heart beat for the local community and residents of Murton. The hard work starts now!”
