Autumn Equinox 22/9/25

My Chair Yoga lesson In Palluaud on Monday was themed all around 'Letting Go', as the leaves do. We focused on striking a balance between effort and ease, between light and shade, between engaging and surrendering. Oh! And I found more than 20 synonyms for 'letting go'. Do you want to know what they were...?

Pop me a message to find out more about my 3 differentiated lessons each week. And definitely let me know if you'd like to gather some friends to join you on a Beginner's Course.

I'm back from a visit to my beloved Cape Town, after a nearly 8 year absence! Fair to say, a beautiful time was had, and I feel refreshed and rejuvenated, buffeted by winter walks on the beach and in the hills. And now to focus on the new Yoga term ahead.

*NEW* Yoga for this term in Palluaud (16390)

Do you know how some of you are interested in Yoga and wonder what the buzz is about? But you have never tried (or maybe you're a bit rusty!) and it's quite daunting to join an existing class...because what if they can all put their ankles behind their heads??

This is just for you: 'MINDFUL MONDAYS - BEGINNERS' FLOW',

a 6-week module for Beginners where everyone will start all together in the same boat, and we will learn and grow together in a supportive environment. This course begins on Monday 23rd September from 4.30pm to 5.45pm, lasts 6 weeks, and is payable in full at the first lesson (€70 for the complete course).

Start your journey now, and your body will thank you before Christmas!

In addition, for varying capabilities, I also teach:
'Chilled Chair Yoga' (no floor work)
'Midweek Smoothie' (slower pace, all the benefits) and
'Midweek Motivation' (flowing lesson, challenging in parts)

It's a been a busy term. And that's why I haven't posted so much recently ...too busy teaching yoga. Well, that’s my excuse anyway!

So, a week or two ago we saw the last of the group lessons at the studio in Palluaud, before wrapping up for the summer break. The 'Saturday Smoothie' morning lesson was closed with sharing tea and healthy homemade seed, fruit and nut bars - and subsequent recipe sharing.

The final 'Chilled Chair' yoga lesson on Monday afternoons, was followed with sweet and savoury nibbles - and a good deal of chat and laughter!

Our last 'Midweek Motivation' class on Wednesday evening was celebrated with snacks and fizz, and cries of "we're going to miss our lessons during summer!"

Unfortunately, I was too busy enjoying each of these lovely events to take any photos.

I love teaching yoga so much, and especially getting to know my students so well over time. There is something very special about a gathering of people, all with such varied 'stories', coming together for a common and supportive purpose, and ultimately for health and wellbeing.

Shared energy.
Shared compassion.
Shared being human.

I love every minute of it!

There will be a revised teaching schedule for September. Details to follow here nearer the time.

I have realised that it was in April 2022 that I last taught my 'Circles, Cycles and Repetition' lesson... a cycle in itself to revisit it!

I love that each time we come to yoga, it is an opportunity for new self-reflection, new exploration, new discoveries and new learning.

I taught this lesson again during last week to my private students, my Wednesday evening students (who like a stronger flow), to my Saturday morning students (who like it a little slower), and also to my Chair yoga students. It went down equally well with all, and the lesson content bent and flexed and adapted - just like we do - to suit each of the different lessons.

Life is just a cycle after all.
I find myself having moved house once again.
Easter is here once again.
The rains are here once again.
The sun is coming once again.

Here, to celebrate the seasonal changes, are some of my photos taken on a moody walk today.

My favourite quote, with huge apologies to T.S Eliot is: "We shall not cease from exploration, and the end of all our exploring will be to arrive where we started, and to know the place for the very first time!"

I teach this to all my yoga students, because although it couldn't possibly have been his intention, this quote so beautifully describes the yoga journey, for me. I never, ever tire of the same poses, no matter how many times I come to explore them.

And, that's just it: the yoga journey, to my mind at least, is one of journeying, exploration, discovery and an attitude of fresh inquiry every time that we come to our mats, whether it be one of yoga's 'easier' or more 'complex' poses. Each can be explored with renewed interest, every time. That keeps yoga unique for me, and I could never become bored with it.

Having said that, discovering new techniques is always exciting. In our Saturday morning Smoothie class today, we used small, soft pilates balls to enhance our practice - and I think I may be a fan! They were a great way to include more opportunities for adducting (as opposed to abducting) our arms and legs. And so, the exploration is ongoing, and I love it!

My Wednesday evening students now have a heads-up as to what they might be in for ;-)

Ah... it's just the best thing when you come home to find a message like this waiting in your inbox:

"Hi Leanne- just wanted to say thank you for two great sessions yesterday, I’m really feeling the benefits.
You look after your students amazingly well, and you give so much to everyone- the atmosphere is lovely, so supportive."

Taking a much needed and overdue break to see my daughter in Switzerland. I've skied only once in my life and it was more than 40 years ago!

All those spinal rotations in yoga came in handy as my feet were tracking forwards while turning all the way around on the 'magic carpet' to see Jess!
* Edit: I forgot to say, all helped by being treated to a gorgeous spa for a couple of hours beforehand. Just the best thing ever.

Happy to say, the skiing was great and I think there's a bigger run planned for tomorrow!
