Personal overshare 🧡
I spent time with my great auntie last weekend. I’ve grown up knowing that she, her mum Gladys (my great grandma) and her mum’s sister Gwen were healers. They didn’t train in reiki or read books about about energy, they just somehow figured out that they could tap into people’s deeper layers.
My aunt told me how her mum would often have friends or family members over and she would place her hands on parts that hurt and it would soothe the person.
My auntie was there once when her mum had a friend over who had horrendous jaw pain. Her mum went through the motions and by the end of their time together the pain had gone. So much so that her friend stayed for dinner and was able to eat when she hadn’t been able to for a few days.
I asked my auntie to tell me what her mum did with her hands, and she pretty much did exactly what I do in a reiki session. Which, I’ll be honest, blew my mind 😂
My auntie also told me that she just “knows” stuff about people, and isn’t sure how, she just does.
My grandpa’s auntie Lottie (other side of the family) was the same. He also read palms for fun when he was younger.
The word “psychic” is often laden with negative connotations - and sometimes for good reason as unfortunately some people use the word to exploit people. However, I know that there are a lot of people in my family that would fall under that category.
Whilst I trained in reiki, over the years I’ve tapped into my own intuition and have created my own “system” for when I work with my lovely clients. Much like my aunt, I can’t really explain to you what happens, but I get images, words, or feelings/hunches as I work.
I don’t think this is magic, I just think it’s an extra sense that I’ve managed to discover that has been passed down to me. We are all connected, and we all have energy that runs through us. I am really grateful and proud of this insight, even if I do find it pretty bloody odd.
