Just a little hint of blue, as the sky shows her presence to the landscape below.

Really enjoying the ease and joy of the ink, with the graphite and the pastel.

I find myself drawn to the spontaneous and energetic movements in the quick sketch of a local peninsula where land becomes the sea.

Made with love, feels like the key.

Calling upon my response to a beautiful meditative walk, that I took a couple of weeks ago to the Witches Cauldron.

A particularly drama stretch of the Pembs coastal path, where the land greets the sea and the sea greets the sky.

It was truly a magical day and a pleasure to spend time just being with the land and the elements in all their splendour.

Always changing. Always magical.

Exploring tonal qualities within the landscape is incredibly freeing and satisfying at the same time, as the essence of a place just emerges onto the page, with the minimum of materials, in this sketch I have only combined charcoal, pastel and water.

Together they make a beautiful whole image.

Over the last couple of months I’ve completely simplified my painting practice.

Focusing on real time energetic sketches made within the landscape.

It’s been a real joy and a constant reminder not to overthink, just paint, and invite the image to emerge.

I think we may have enjoyed the last few days of Autumnal sunshine over the weekend.

Beautiful wandering to be had along the North Pembrokeshire coastal path.

Lots of photos and sketching as we explored cauldron and got to see a grey seal, playing in the tidal flow.

Practice, patient attention to whatever wants to happen next and trust something beautiful will emerge with minimal effort.

When I began intuitive, expressive painting I really struggled with not knowing what was happening, how I should respond and what marks to make.

Now, I am understanding that I am a creative process and when I remember this deeper connection to life, the worry and the doubt falls away, and I just enjoy the whole process of making with, and sharing my love of the land, sea and sky.

Welcome to Threads of Connection

The founding aim of Threads of Connection is to offer creative and generative spaces to pause, and reflect upon these changing and often challenging times of transition and transformation. A time when many of us are becoming more aware of a need to find our ground, take our place and deepen our sense of who we might be becoming.

It is within this moving frame of reference that we each need to take a moment to consider the dominant stories and images which shape the undercurrent of our lives. To come into close contact with what requires nourishment and that which we need to let go of. A creative and generative process which I practice as a form of transformative living. Practicing transformative living requires patience and good humour. In short deliberate attention, a slower and more intentional pace. There are no quick fixes, magic puddings or traditional fairy tale ending. Instead we are required to attend to the emergent thresholds and trust that we have the necessary resources to move into this next phase of our lives.
